It would be nice, but you'd probably need new mods to solely handle troll comments

I gotta be honest, I loved, loved, loved reading comments to trade requests, and I found myself checking the requests with replies first.

Most of the comments were buddies doing the useless "great trader here" or "generous offer" replies.

Also prevalent were the regional trade value protectors.

Also entertaining, the troll posts stating that deals were closed when they obviously werent.

All while the some of the old regime of traders used the buddy system to win trades vs newbs.

    Yes. Bring the comments back.

No. Thread shitting isn't necessary. The removal of that option is what makes the difference between BA & other websites. If someone is looking for, "feedback" they should acknowledge the obvious & that's the lack of an offer to close. Or, be more specific with the subject title of your post. "FT: list ISO: list" will get views but it's extremely vague. So most likely, the lack of bms could stem from the fact that those who are looking probably don't have the ISO bottles or they think the offer is right for them.

Either which way, I say the option stays removed. It's been proven that most people can't be trusted to be respectful towards others with their, "opinions" or "trying to help" posts.

Is it possible to leave it up to the poster? Can we just tick a box when creating the post to enable/disable replies.

I know that I don't want a ton of jibber jabber on my trade posts and I feel like there are a bunch of personalities on here that want to flex their trade muscles and tell you how you are trading wrong(not how they would have done it).

Reiterating some of the above, I would like to see it come back, assuming some light moderating is possible.
Really unnecessary rude replies/trolling shouldn’t be tolerated, but getting some basic responses was helpful to me in several occasions in the past. Plus tagging helped get a deal done also in a few spots.

Also some helpful responses can assist new traders who re-post things that are realistically never going to close.

I say yes but one of the rules should be that you should have so many completed trades (maybe at least 20 trades) with zero negative feedback.

I am new to trading (on BA not in general) and I would love to see the reply's back as I get confused just looking at some of the short hand lingo.

    Thanks

I would place a strong warning in red right above the Create Thread/Thread title box that threadshitting will not be tolerated. Maybe add a checkbox indicating that the user understands that trolling is verboten before every post.

    I agree with
    @chicagopubcrawler21 above.

I enjoy the current format and fear if we open it up to a reply all system it'll turn out to be an all out bidding war. Trades that we think are closed may be dropped if a better offer comes along which extends out the process.

When I first started trading and listed an off-balance trade, someone was kind enough to PM me telling me of the difference in trade value. I do the same now if someone lists something outlandish (i.e. trading for Pliny the Younger or a Treehouse beer that hasn't been in rotation for a while).

Yes, but restrict the replying privileges for it, and don't be afraid to deny the replying privileges to people that abuse it.

Yes definitely. With an influx on new traders I find it's necessary to nudge them to the proper etiquette and values. I firmly believe in the last few years these values have gone awry and daily we see posts that are auctions, imbalanced or other such misguided listings.

Since the "rules" on an anything goes trading forum were put into effect, I say let the replies be a free for all also.

    I'm indifferent.

Shortly before the change, the boards had become a free-for-all of worthless & often counter-productive comments (& not the good kind), so I've enjoyed the lack of this kind of stupid. However, seeing some of the posts put up now - for example, those folks who feel the need to post the same trade daily for a week - it seems there are some traders who could use some "public feedback".

And for those saying "punish the threadshitters", who's going to make the call as to what's crapping & what's a helpful comment? Opinions are going to vary all over the board, as they did before, on where to draw that line.

I would love to see replies come back for the trade forums. A lot of educational information can come from the comments. In addition the comments section of the trade forum used to be incredibly entertaining as well. Cheers!

Absolutely as I think it would CLEAN up some of the ridiculousness that has become The Trade Board in the last few years

    NO.

It's how BA differentiates between other platforms, such as Reddit & FB.
