Do not re-enable replying to trade posts. The current system works much better.

Too many people (trolls) posting snarky comments to shit on other people's trades. Frankly you don't want your mods overwhelmed by the trade forums abuse.

People already can PM the OP of the posting, ask questions on the trading help site, and look up completed trades. That should be enough.

I strongly agree with bringing it back, and agree that the rest of the site is well moderated if there's people offloading their snark cannons, and believe the trade forum would be no different. Negative feedback (non offensive) can be very constructive in that a person won't post the same rediculous trade offer many times, clogging up the forum. It'd allow newer traders to watch and gauge values on their bottles so the don't keep believing that their Black Tuesday should pull a Handjee or something along those lines. Glad you guys are thinking of bringing it back! If they do... Everyone play nice! :astonished:

I would definitely bring it back. It adds to the openness of the forum and there's also entertainment value there. I've had a few For Trade posts in which I really had no idea whether what I was offering would get what I was searching for and a few snarky comments could have been helpful and would probably have been humorous

Yes, you should stop trying to so heavily moderate everything. We come here to talk about beer, and sometimes you need to shitpost on a trade thread because people are the worst.

I mean it works in both directions. Valid complaints get noted, but also if I see someone who seems like an obsessive jerk ("THE LABEL WAS PARTIALLY PEELED ON ONE OF THE BOTTLES I DEMAND YOU SEND A REPLACEMENT") then I know to avoid the complantent, as well.

Yes to bringing back ISO:FT replies. Two reasons: #transparency, #jokes

I'd like to see it back

Maybe have some kind of strict penalty in effect for those that abuse it. Rest of the site is well moderated.

Yes. I too often see people continue making the exact same trade offer day after day for months. Maybe being able to reply would help those individuals see that they're way off the mark.

I tend to feel that NO is the way to go. Prevents trolling, unhelpful feedback, and general obnoxiousness. I also suspect it would require more work to moderate the threads than is required now.

That being said, if you do bring it back - you have to publish clear guidelines on what is and what is not going to be considered trolling/unhelpful feedback/etc. This will make sure that people know going in what will and what will not be tolerated. And, any violations of this should be punished with the same seriousness as any other violation of the terms of trading here.

My vote is to enable comments. I think it can be limited to one comment per user that is NOT the OP. The OP should have the option to comment on their own post.

There could also be a feature for the OP to choose to enable/disable comments. Maybe not new traders, but those with over X amount of positive trade feedback received.

Yeah, why not, let the comments back in. Suggestion though...It would be nice to make another forum for people looking to establish an ongoing trading partner. This is how the majority of my trades are done now and I like it much better. I've met some really great people this way who are very active in the beer community where they live and it gives me a local contact if I ever travel to one of these areas on a beercation.

big time NO here. the whole concept sounds like a pig circus and would lend itself to an auction-style forum with people outbidding each other. as far as newer / inexperienced users, you learn fast enough the value of bottles when you post and hear crickets or get flooded with messages. you don't need some random user giving you their 2 cents.

I'd say yes. I remember back when I first started trading that I definitely got a few smartasses who thought they were trade Gods and laughed at me, however, I also got a lot of helpful insight, including people helping me in private messages. If there's an easy way, possibly create a check box for the OP to click and not allow responses on his/her thread. Or, at the very least, we can say "no comments" and hope that the know it alls respect that instead of sticking their noses in.

Good idea! Allow only traders that have 100% positive feedback with say 30+ trades under there belt, can comment. Would eliminate a good handful of users.

I would like to see it come back. It increases transparency, so we can better measure trade value, and I believe it will also increase trader accountability.

On a trial basis maybe. But I am concerned that will change ISO:FT into a bidding war for overhyped beers even more than now. The trolls will also come out. That said, a drop down glossary of the obscure beer abbreviations that some of you fucking hop hipsters use here would be helpful at times. :grinning:
