So you don't want it to come back then? You seem like one of the reasons it went away in the first place...

Yes, replying should be brought back and the poster should be given the option of allowing this or not. I think it provides good feedback. Abusers should be punished.

I have only known this current era with no replying but it seems fine to me. When I post a thread that gets very few views and no BMs, it lets me know I overshot it. I get the educational aspect for new traders but I can see it being abused by users who think they know it all. Also, viewing other user's posts gives me enough of an idea of value.

Yes bring it back. If there are abusive posts, so what. It is the internet, ignore it and move on. Don't take it personally.
The pluses far outweigh the negatives

It needs to come back. There have been many groups started on Facebook with no reference for tradeworthy people / bad traders etc... still buyer beware on this site, but BA was the forum before FB, and now that FB has become prevalent with groups for trading it is good, but not quite the same. I find some FB traders are there for the get rich quick scheme which scares me a bit. Having localized trades is sometimes easier there, but starting conversations , then waiting for beermail becomes too much of a chore comparitively to just responding in a threadlike fashion

Bring it back with and have an option for replies or no replies, if possible. This way people don't get spam/shat threading from the TRADE POLICE and TROLLS if they are looking for a specific trade.

I quit trading here once the replies were banned. Personally it feels like BA lost a competitive edge to the myriad beer trading forums that allow discussion.

No. One of the things I enjoy about BA is that their isn't any thread shitting as you commonly see on facebook/reddit/IG.

No, private messaging was a reason I join BA a year or two ago instead of other trading platforms. I didn't find it that hard to learn how to trade when I joined. I will say that "trade value" takes a while to develop and can be opinionated, but I believe anyone that gets into beer trading develops this knowledge along the way. It's a lot like learning any other subject - you become more educated by reading posts and participating among the traders. Turning on comments will add a lot of random commentary - especially if people are just looking to post to build forum reputation or collect Karma points.

I would say definitely not as people in other places which allow replies to trade posts like to get in pissing contests.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yes please. Its extremely valuable to new traders to gather information without making post that annoy users.

I agree with you - but where are the other places for asking about value on BA? I've never seen that.

From value standpoint to actual trading experience: maybe.

As much as I like the idea of being able to provide constructive feedback and comments especially on the poster of ISO:FT, I think there will be quite a few self proclaimed experts who will 'know' what should trade for what as well as those trying to add value to certain beers and therefore proclaim certain trade proposals way one sided. If you have beer A and you want beer B, then value and others' opinions shouldn't matter as long as both sides come away happy. If you want to know what trades for what, then see other trade offers or completed trades forums. However, if the original poster has the ability to turn replies on or off, I'm all for enabling replies.

From an entertainment and engagement point of view: yes, absolutely enable it.

I'd like to keep my trade posts as places for interested parties to transact, not for third parties to debate the relative value of beer. But others clearly feel differently and are willing to risk the bad commentary to get the good. So can BA allow the trader to enable / disable comments on individual posts???

ps - Noobs can post in Beer Trading Talk for general help or can end their trade posts with a request for help or input via PM. Speaking which, I kind of the like the "PM barrier". That little bit of extra effort to PM keeps out trolls and know-it-alls but lets through people who actually care about trading, helping...
