Just saw tweet that on 7/20 Rustico in Ballston's pouring some Prairie beers...guess that means NoVA distribution isn't too far behind?

Seems the D.C. prairie stuff has been siting on shelves after the initial excitement. Similarly, when I was in Texas a little while ago and was surprised when I found their beers, including barrel aged variants, easily available in beer stores.

Their prices always seem a bit steep.

Besides Churchkey and Bluejacket, any must hit spots (both dining/bottle shops) in DC? Staying closer to the convention center. Arriving from NJ to DC in a few weeks. Thanks.

If you're staying near the convention center, you've got to check out Right Proper. Great food & lots of unconventional, mixed-fermentation beers.

Anyone else tried Bluejacket's Turning Road IPA? I've admittedly never been the biggest Bluejacket fan, but I thought it was outstanding. It was the first hoppy beer they've made that I would go out of my way for. Very much a hazy, fruity, NE-style IPA.

^ Agreed. An earlier batch really turned my head a few months ago. It was excellent fresh, but turned into something much different after just a few weeks and was much less enjoyable. Get it now I guess.

What, did DC Brau already use that name as a beer name?

Commonwealth beers at CBC H St. First time having something from them and Big Papi is a pretty solid NE style IIPA. Pretty great for a shelf beer.

Yeah I really like the Wapatoolie "tropical IPA" they make. Its not a by-the-book NE IPA, more of a hybrid, but its very tasty and a great shelf choice.

Yep, had this on tap a few times at Dominion. The current batch is particularly good.

One word of caution re: Big Papi: that beer falls off about as fast any beer I've had recently. It's great as long as you can get it within the first few weeks after it was brewed, but it's a different (not good) beer a month out. I also grabbed a can of Ojo del Tigre and was a big fan, great beer if you're into dark lagers.

Good to know, thanks. However, there are no dates on any of the cans I got from them. But I assume this was from the most recent canning.

Big Papi was pretty good, not mind-blowing though. Thought Wapatoolie was a bit rough, particularly the nose. Will drink the other cans of Big Papi quick, thanks.

Does anyone know where to find RAR's current brewery taplist? I see the list of all of their beers on the website, but not what's on right now.
    Thanks!
