I'll throw in an aging question, based off interest in the other aging thread popping right now:

I'm not a huge cellar maker. However, I do have a handful of things I've been aging. I don't put the energy into whales, so, I'll never know that joy. Anyhow, I found a bunch of year old Ten Fidy cans at a local shop. Just sitting, probably at 65-72 degrees for a year. Not optimal cellar conditions, for sure. However, how much "aging" has been done, and how much damage has been done, if any?

The temp is not what most would care for but it should have been fairly consistent. You also do not have to worry about light or oxygen like you will with bottles. Personally I would have no reservations about picking up the Ten Fidy.

It's Ten Fidy, I'd buy some! Recently I drank a can from about a couple years ago and it's still a great brew.

Good buy I'd say. I ran into 2 year old yeti this summer in similar conditions, and despite efforts to save two for longer aging it did not happen.

Not much (if any), applaud them for aging it for you.

Beer ages faster the warmer it is, basically, as far as I understand it. Light and oxygen will be variables, but not in a can. Maybe oxidation, if it was canned and oxygen is in the can. I really don't know if anyone has done a comparison test aging one beer at true cellar temps of 55 vs the same beer at a warmer temperature over periods of time to see how fast the aging occurs at warmer temps, all other variable being the same. Any difference in rate of aging will be different depending on the beer. Ten Fidy is great with a year or two or three on it at cellar temps. I haven't had it older, but I would suspect it is capable of a bit longer. I have kept it for 2 years in my faux cellar, which is my basement at about 60F-65F depending on the season. At three years old it was quite good. I would buy year old ten fidy stored at 65-72 temp without hesitation. Especially since it is not that easy for me to get!

Wow I second, third and fourth the opinions above. I would not hesitate to purchase that and agree being in a can will be in your advantage. Buy it!

Do it! I bought a 4pk at my local recently that was from 2009 and had been sitting in similar conditions, and it was just outstanding. That beer can pretty much stand up to any abuse.

A few years ago I had a vertical tasting of 3-2-1 year old Ten Fidy cans and fresh on tap at Monks Kettle in SF. Now mind you that I cellar a lot of beers, but could not tell much difference between the cans. It literally made me wonder if I was being tken advantage of and sold a flight of the same beer! For that reason I wouldn't worry about buying the cans you saw nor would I bother trying to cellar Ten Fidy.

I had 2 cans of Ten Fidy that got mixed up with some other stuff when I moved last Feb. The 2 cans stayed in a box on a shelf in my garage and I found them over the summer. It got really hot in there, but decided to give one a go and it was great. Knucklehead move on my part, but it worked out fine. If canned TenFidy did ok with that then I'm sure they'll be fine in the store.
