    It's hard to compare both (both beers and breweries), if anything it was based on memory and my ratings. Curious to see what cjgiant has to say about either too. Done drinking for today and having a tough time finishing curmudgeon, which is pretty heavy. Cheers!

    Martin House Christmas in July. An awesome brew!


    Last December we brewed a little extra Sugar & Spice. We put it in some Colorado whiskey barrels and let it hang out. Whatever happened in those barrels for 7 months created this wonderful beer we call Christmas in July. Its about 14% abv and the barrels added a pronounced whiskey flavor while also complimenting the original vanilla additions. The remaining spices we added back in December have had time to mellow and become a bit more subtle. This beer is 100% barrel-aged. This beer is super limited and on draft only. Enjoy.

    Beyond that, you accurately described my thoughts on Founders bs Deschutes. I found Black Butte lighter and better feeling while still bringing some nice roasted notes. I have one left... be back in a few minutes...

    Tuesday evening greetings BAs! I took the afternoon off and took a little trip to New Buffalo, MI. in an attempt to enjoy summer. Sunny and 86 d F.
    First up a local brew I just picked up. Round Barn Hop Dealer IPA. Pretty tasty.

    Sometimes you can just ignore best by dates when the beer is well made:

    Best by 7/3/17. Still smooth, stil roasty. A drop off in hops isn't surprising, but while it makes for a different beer, it's not really detracting much.
