Had that on tap not too long ago... I thought it tasted more like a saison than an IPA.

 

Well, the beer in not really worth mentioning. But at least it’ from tap

Now having a late lunch of raw herring, a dutch delicacy. Bit like sushi, but more taste from the sea. In fact the place where I’m having it has been awarded number one for the best herring in the Netherlands.All very nice and close to the sea.

Excellent dunkel! Now I need to track this down when I get home and pick up a couple of cases.

Ah Dawn of the Dead. My frist, and still favorite, Zombie movie. I watched it at my friends house in Jr. high. His Mom made us spaghetti and Chicken for dinner and we ate while watching...not a good idea at the time. I kinda lost my appetite

You were right Larry. Very much in the NE style, and very good on its own merit.

 

I did some sexy stuff today. I bought meat on sale and froze it. I bought some cute cookware on the spur of the moment AND I declared the rest of the days this week "san'wich days." It's hot. Cheers BA!

Finback IPA

 

Our local restocks this often, must be selling well . . .






Light gold color with creamy white cap and lacing.

Aroma of sweet malt with a dusting of spicy hops. Either the aroma is low key or my nose is full of pollen but that's all I get.

Tastes like the stuff usually flying under the Session IPA moniker. At 5.6% it isn't terribly strong but hardly sessionable without some food to soak it up. First thing on entry is a firm hop hit (49 IBU) of the sharp, piney type joined by sweet malt mid palate. The malt flavor builds while hops diminish as we approach the finish. Lingering aftertaste is mostly malt which tapers off to a gentle point.

Competent, crafty brew with enough malty body to set it above average and enough hop presence to keep things interesting. Frankly, it reminds me of a quality German lager brewed with West Coast hops. I think if they used Noble hops and cut back the IBU it would make a dandy Pilsner substitute.

 

Recently canned and very nice.
