More Brewing Co. (StB) - (2018)

I have not made any complaints of his beer, I just had an opinion on untappd. I have only had one stout of his before and it was awesome. Was never highly impressed by his NE IPA's, but I was definitely in the minority with that.

 

Hop Butcher (IMO)

Galaxy Bowl batch1 may not have been their first commercial offering, but none of their subsequent beers have been better than galaxy bowl batch 1.

That being said, I agree with your statement and view Hop Butcher is an anomaly.

 

Does anyone know if they will have a larger food menu?

Didn't mean to lump you in with the complainers. Just quoted you to clear up the misconception of why I cited Untappd- not as the Holy Grail of opinions, but just as an indicator of the general opinions outside BA.

Ha! You got me there for sure. The exception to every rule... though I bet HB wishes they could find the magic of that first batch again.

 

I would also lump Mikerphone in this category. Strictly speaking from their new taproom opening, they started off very strong. Mic Check 1, 2 was spot on. But somehow they have been on a slight decline. Nothing major, but I definitely think they started off stronger than where they are at now. But I see a recovery very soon.

 

^This. They are a business and can't just wait forever to release their first beer.

That participation line is great, and while I generally agree - I would consider the BA ratings for these new beers far less reliable than Untappd.

All 3 of the canned beers have about 10 total ratings. That's a really, really small sample size. More importantly, they each have just 1 review by the same BA'er. That reviewer was more negative than all the rest, and the way this site does this stuff is to heavily weight a review over a and is dragging the

Basically, @GuyFawkes is driving about 50% the BA ratings on this beer. His opinion is as valid as anyone's, but at the moment it's a bit too early to say 2 of More's 3 canned releases are sub-85's and don't warrant a purchase...

 

BA scores are credibility weighted, so the 1-100 score they're given isn't solely representative of the reviews. It is weighted with an average based on the number of reviews. So a beer with really high ratings but not very many ratings will have its score dragged down by the credibility weighting. My guess would be these offerings fall in the camp of being dragged down in score by the credibility weighting.

 

Just left More, tried both new batches of Dusty and Loose Candies. I'd say he's dialed them in. Mouthfeel is on point now and the back end is cleaned up and real juicy. I really liked them.

Also they said the full menu may roll out this week.

 

I wish others would rate these beers too...I'm not trying to decide whether others should buy these or not, I'm just voicing my opinion.

Everyone that thinks I'm wrong about More...rate the damn beers!!

 

I think it's unfair to think a business and it's product will look the same on day 1 as it will 1 month/6 months/5 years in. All you can hope for is that they recognize an opportunity to improve, and take the necessary steps to do so.

 

Sorry, but the idea that any beer under a score of 85 on BA is not worth purchasing is simply rediculous.

 

I agree. Perhaps there are times where you are in the middle of nowhere with no choices above 86 ratings.

 

beat me to it. it's in line with the "i won't drink an IPA if it's more than 2 weeks old..". it illustrates either degree to which we are spoiled for very good beer, or the degree to which a segment of the population are pretentious douches.

I don't know about that. Regional favorites and we'll known brewery staples deem to do alright on their ratings.

 

I try to never look at the rating for a beer I've never had before. You never know how much the "rating" might subconsciously affect your opinion.

After the fact I like to see how my opinion stacks up to the beer hive mind.

 

You guys all take beer too seriously. It's beer. It's local. It tastes good.

 

You've posted hundreds of times on an internet message board about beer.

I'd say you take it pretty seriously too.
