Wasn't able to get to FW Sacramento until Saturday evening. GalaxyS, and Green Rest cans were gone. Still some cans of More Betterness and Always Blue.

Did get a crowler of Eastside Motel. Still drinking great.

King Citra back on tap at the Sacramento Taproom today. Had to go down for lunch. This batch is outstanding.

It's interesting that you say this because I feel like they're tightening up their game quite a bit. Aside from some of the yeast mishaps from earlier this year, I feel like their beers have improved. Beers that didn't impress me before (In Bloom, Eastside Motel, St Thomas, Grovestand) now taste distinct and worthy of revisiting. Pulp is consistently great and everyone who I've ever given it to (from neckbeards to casual fans) has been impressed. They do still release beer that I'm not too keen on, but what brewery doesn't? I went to Cellarmaker early last week and while all the beer I had was good, I wasn't compelled to get a growler fill of anything. Sometimes timing matters...

As for Alvarado Street, I've had some superb beers from them (CNJ, Vengeful, RtJ, Double Haole, Anniversary Ale #3, Growers, etc), but most recently, Delorean Dust really blew me away. It was a tropical fruit delight.

It's clear we have different criteria for what qualifies entry to each tier. I just want to put it out there that Fieldwork & Alvarado St are in no way Tier 2 to me.

I totally agree, and although I think Cellarmaker has also improved with their beer... the last month - ever since they started canning in fact... I think they've slipped. I'm hoping it's just a timing issue and not anything substantial. Maybe the best? beer they have on their board recently is Mt. Nelson, but it's certainly different from other Mt. Nelson batches I've had. But for the four beers released in a can, they've done them better previously.

And the Fieldwork beers you mentioned having improved. I did try Grove Stand and In Bloom lately and they're better than they were. I also heard current Eastside Hotel was great, but they didn't have it in San Mateo when I went this past weekend. But I'd also say I'm not a big DIPA guy, not even when Cellarmaker makes them :relaxed:

I'd love to try St. Thomas again though. Although they call it NE, I always felt like it was that great in-betweener style that I like the most. I haven't had it since 2016.

Did I say that Fieldwork DIPAs weren't that great? I take it back. This is tasting fantastic.

    Eastside Motel.

IMO a lot better than Grove Stand, In Bloom, Galaxy Sauce

Went to Grimy Green Walls yesterday and tried:

    Green Rest

Okay. This is really my jam, and is possibly my favorite Fieldwork beer. It does the NE meets WC (or WC meets NE?) fusion thing very well. I think I'm also a sucker for Motueka & Simcoe combos, and this one doesn't disappoint. It's juicy but also dank and bitter. This is one I'd love to have in my fridge.

It looks like the Toronado Beer 30th Anv can is only at Berkeley from the Social Media posts so far. No mention of it on the Sac, San Mateo or Napa Instagrams.

Damn. That sounds amazing. I just would like more crazy Juicy Hazy Hop bombs in the 6.5% range, but as doubles go I guess 8% isn't the worst thing in the world. Regardless, I'm in the Northwest and will miss this one :-(

Beautiful nose on this beer. Got a splash then ordered a growler fill. Hopefully cans are just as good.

I could not agree more. I love the taste of these doubles but would seriously prefer something with lower ABV. Set Sail, Streets Ahead and Ascender were pretty awesome last night. Destination Unknown is downright dangerous... with how good it is! Ended with a Bean Machine. I like how even when they don't have some of their greats (Pulp, St Thomas, etc..) on the board it's still solid beer. Great night!
