So it sounds like a government limiting factor is preventing them from the Trillium like expansions, that sucks.

I mean I have a bunch of ideas on what I think OH should do (change how they release beer, aggressively expand, crowlers would be nice)

But who am I? I have no stake in OH, they can do whatever they want. Run it into the ground if they want to, doesn't affect me.

At least he doesn't have to wait on line for 6 hours to get beer for the parties

All of you talking about Trill like they are the Gods gift. I went to the Fort Point in Boston location. For to go beers. I was the only person in the place at about Noon an a Monday. I tried to ask a few questions about one or two of the beers and The guy behind the counter basically said tell me what you want and lets keep moving. There were literally 3 people in the place. Me him and someone on the phone I could not see presumably another employee. I told him to fuck off and i left. Just my 2cents on Trillium....

What I have found in this thread recently is a bunch of Entitled bitches. OH is a business, they are in business to #1 make money, then #2 to make beer. They have been wildly successful with no advertising and little distribution of draft. As I stated in a precious post, until people stop lining up and spending $100k a week there business model will not change and it shouldn't.

People talk about #linelife, Even her in FL lines for beer are part of the culture. It has become a place to see people you may only see in beer lines and being able to BS with the people inline and maybe have a beer while your at it will make the wait feel shorter.

I think most of the bitching is from people that just don;t want to wait in lines. Big deal, 3 hours out of your life. You were just going to lay in bed and play with yourself anyway.

Kudos to OH for making good beer and having a solid business plan/model. I bet they are debt free at this point. Which is pretty awesome.

Full Disclosure-- I have been to OH twice, I have waited in line there for beer. I have a few people that I regular trade with for OH and I have paid mules for the beer. I admit I have an OH addiction and in fact i am getting a box of this past weeks releases today.

What's the point of crowlers when you have cans + counter-pressure growlers? Genuinely asking. Growlers are also reusable (better for enviornment + costs...)

Purely personal experience, they are 1000x easier to ship/pack. I travel to CLT a lot, and ship myself beer to share with people. I dont want to over pack a growler, its just not economical for me.

this post is cringeworthy. you are the problem. paying for mules and glorifying waiting in line for beers. calling original OH fans who legitimately have better things to do then wait in line 3 hours with fellow alcoholics "entitled bitches". Thats what bars are for! Not lines!

and draft distribution is part of what made them who they are today. so you're wrong. i've been following this brewery since the beginning and it wasn't always catering to customer profiles like yourself. and they were successful. And they were making money.

Also it is becoming increasingly harder to find OH on draft and when you do you are paying $9 a 16oz for a Forever Ever. Their DDH stuff sells out fairly quickly and the demand has grown.

If only every brewery had this guy working there, the lines would be half as long.

Nothing more irritating than when you're waiting on a line that's moving at less than a slow crawl and you see the people at the front trying to chat up the employees like they're long-lost pals. It's unfortunate that most of said employees are nice enough to humor the small talk instead of shooing away the beer bros to keep the line flowing.

In understand you said you were just asking about the beers, but this is a problem I've found at most releases.

Dhaakon nailed it. Also, some of us work on Saturdays, others have families who they'd rather be spending their Saturday mornings with. Not everyone sits around "just playing with themselves" when they're not up at 6am waiting in line for beer. What a tool

I was not at a release. I was in the retail portion of the shop, I saw 2 beers I new nothing about and maybe wanted to buy. I WAS THE ONLY CUSTOMER IN THE ROOM!!!!! did you not comprehend that?
I agree with you to the point that if you are at a release and standing in line you should know what you standing in line for.

Nothing wrong with that. But then you cant bitch about not being able to get said beer because you CHOSE to stay home with your family or you had to work. Life isn't fair, we do what we have to do and sometimes we miss out on stuff because of it. OH is running a business and they dictate when and how they sell their product. They made a decision that is best for them to do releases on Sat morning.

Yes, I comprehended that from your post... which is why I qualified that I was making a general statement.

Maybe he was rude because he recognized you from BeerAdvocate as someone who promotes the shittiest aspects of the craft beer scene.

...not yet. But it very well could happen with the commuters and their 6am #linelife shares of 12% stouts

Yes, something to make it even easier to ship OH beers all over the country, when the local demand is nowhere near being met...

Are you saying you cant get their beer? Or that you cant get cans of their beer?

Because you can walk into their Tap Room on Tues & Weds and get almost any of their new releases. As a local its pretty easy, and meets my demands.

The one thing I've never understood since joining BA six years ago is the constant calls for small popular breweries to expand.

It means debt (or more debt). And it almost invariably results in loss of reputation.

Occasionally they cash in and actually make money by selling - and then of course "sell out ************s".

Forgetting the "how best to cater to the largest segment of our fans possible without significantly increasing our overheads" side of things for a moment - if I ran a brewery I would totally be trying to emulate somewhere like OH.

Has an OH reached > 30 pages in one month before? It's been nuts.
