A customer walks up to the bar. Asks, "Hey. So I like 'said beer'. What do you have that's like it?"

The point of this thread is to name a "macro" or well known beer and what you would give them that's like it.

Closest think you have to a Bud
Anchor California Lager or Sierra Nevada Summerfest

If I know someone likes AALs, I'll generally point them to the least hoppy pilsner. An ESB, Amber or APA might do in a pinch as well. Sometimes I'll ask if they like Guiness, and if they do, point them to a Porter or Stout.

Have also just handed them what I'm drinking and asked if they like it. A bartender could always give them a sample of a couple of the least XTreme beers on tap and ask which one they prefer.

I've never done this at a place with East Coast style juicy fruit beers tho. Wonder if those make good entry points?

Just hand him some samples and get the conversation started.

I would also point them towards a lightly hopped pilsner or blonde ale.

In my quest to get away from buying big beer and trying to find something that my wife likes, she has found Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen as the one most preferred. It's one of my favorites as well.

I'd recommend Upslope Craft Lager* for anyone that drinks BMC Lagers.
    *if available.

La Cumbre Beer is pretty good too. Ska Mexican Logger would work too.
