Hello everyone - I will be in Chicago and will have time for probably one brewery stop and looking for the best recommendation. I realize there are other threads out there with recommendations but I need to stay somewhat close to the downtown area and can't venture too far (i.e. Like out to 3 Floyds). I'll be staying around the Gold Coast area/Hancock Tower and looking no more than maybe a 15-20 min drive. What's the one you'd hit up if you could only hit up one?
    Thanks in advance!

If I had to choose a single brewery stop: Half-Acre. It has a descent variety of different styles of beers (but most will be pale ale/IPA/DIPA) and it's quality place overall that serves food. Only thing is, might get a bit crowded at times.

Half Acre, Revolution, or Goose Island.

Probably half acre, but it depends on the draft list. Last time I was there, the only had 2 draft lines that were not IPAs, so there was some palate fatigue.

Half Acre also has the best merch, glassware, and to go beer options. Usually have 4 packs, growlers, and sours in big bottles.

Forbidden Root. Great food. Some of their beers are outstanding.

Half Acre is great as stated already. Plus other breweries like Begyle and Dovetail are within a few blocks from there so you can easily check them out as well.

100% agree. I love the food and beer at HA. Usually a good variety of beers. Can't go wrong with the nachos or a burrito. If you get a burrito, get the side of potatoes. I love those potatoes. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. And if

Corridor is another good option if they have one of their hazebombs on tap.

None of these are my absolute favorites but in the course of you hours you can hit Begyle, Dovetail and Empirical. They're all on Ravenswood, they all are very different from one another (Begyle is sort of uppity and yuppie, Dovetail is a German throwback, and Empirical is like a hippy/warehouse/dad's basement vibe). They're also sandwiched between the Brown Line el tracks and the Metra tracks so they feel very Chicagoey with all the trains going by. Sorry for replying to an old ass thread lol

Thanks for the Forbidden Root suggestion....Ghost Tropic quickly became one of my favorite DIPAs I've ever had and Keine Krumel was really good as well

Thanks everyone for the responses and insight. Was able to hit up Half Acre and Forbidden Root - both really good suggestions!
