If anyone is headed up to Great Taste of the Midwest this weekend (which is by far my favorite beer festival in the country that I've ever been), this is the list that Imperial Oak will be bringing out (Booth 317).

    • BARREL AGED BEERMUDA TRIANGLE: Style: Tripel. IBU: 32.0. ABV: 9.5. Brewed with Pilsner, Wheat, and Aromatic malts for a light bready malt character which provides the backbone for the fruitiness and spice character from the Belgian yeast. The beer was then aged for 1 year in California Chardonnay barrels. The barrel aging adds notes of citrus, apple, wine and oak.
    • BARREL AGED QUIET GIANT- BOURBON BA IMPERIAL STOUT WITH VANILLA AND CINNAMON: Style: Russian Imperial Stout. OG: 1.131. IBU: 94.0. ABV: 15.0. SRM: 61.2. Brewed with lots of roasted and crystal malts for body and complexity. Vanilla beans and Cinnamon sticks were added to the fermenter after fermentation was complete. Each year we brew the same base beer and age it for 1 year in Bourbon Barrels. After the beer comes out of the barrels it is spiced using different spices each year.
    • BARREL AGED UDDER MADNESS: Style: American Double/Imperial Stout. IBU: 45.0. ABV: 10.0. A blend of Chocolate Malt, Roast Barley, and Black Malt give the beer its chocolate and coffee character. The body and sweetness are provided by crystal malts and the addition of Lactose (Milk Sugar) which is not fermented by beer yeast. The beer was then aged for a year in Bourbon barrels which add notes of bourbon, vanilla, oak and spice.
    • CRANK IT DANK: Style: American IPA. IBU: 60.0. ABV: 7.0. Brewed with a very simple malt bill of Pale and Pilsner malt and a bit of sugar to dry the beer out. It is aggressively hopped with Equinox, Citra and Mosaic. These are newer hop varieties that are bred to have a strong, pungent aroma and flavor often described as “dank”.
    • MAPLE BARREL AGED DOUBLE DEE'S: IBU: 53.0. ABV: 9.2. A blend of brown malt and roasted malts create a smooth, chocolatey roasted character with a bit of sweetness and noted of dark fruits. The beer was then aged in a barrel that first held bourbon then maple syrup. This gives the beer notes of bourbon, vanilla, oak and maple.
    • SUMMER HIBISCUS WIT: Style: Witbier. IBU: 15.0. ABV: 5.0. This is a traditional Belgian Wit (White) Beer with a bit of a twist. Brewed with some flaked oats and wheat along with Pilsner and wheat malt to give the beer a light body along with a smooth, creamy mouth feel. We also added a bit of hibiscus along with the traditional orange peel and coriander to give the beer added complexity, a slightly tart finish and a pink hue.
    • TEQUILA BARREL AGED DOM BEERSAISON: Style: Mixed-Fermentation Sour. IBU: 30.0. ABV: 9.0. This is our Kettle soured Imperial Saison aged for a year in Mexican Tequila barrels. The result is a complex beer with notes of agave, citrus, oak, spice and a refreshingly tart finish.

Next Saturday Aug 26th at 12pm we will be releasing our bourbon barrel aged Odin’s Beard. This 11% imperial red ale spent just over a year in freshly emptied Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. While resting in Valhalla this deep scarlet brew gathered a vibrant array of toffees, rich black cherry jam, cinnamon pastries.

We have also taken a single keg and infused it with toasted coconut chips and Madagascar vanilla beans, adding another level of complexity. Both will be pouring at noon, and 22oz bottles of original version will be available for $15 (qty limited).

Per usual, our good friends at Burger Antics will be flipping their finest for you. Don’t miss your chance to hang with Odin in the longhouse!

    And any tasting notes yet?

Regular should be on for a couple of days, I don't think the Coconut will be on much longer (if it hasn't kicked already).

What's the feeling on BA I Must Break You? Does it stand up to Quiet Giant?

It looks like they released it in bottles last year (2016). I have never had it before. It currently has a rating of 4.05 on Untappd, and BA Quiet Giant has a rating of 4.42. I don't consider Untappd the authority on beer reviews, but this will at least give you some idea.

It’s hard to compare the two because Quiet Giant has the adjuncts but BA I Must Break You is always a very solid non-adjunct BA RIS. Curious as to which barrels will be used for this year’s batch.

Quiet Giant is a much larger beer than I Must Break You (15% ABV for Quiet Giant and 10% ABV for I Must Break You), with a higher original gravity, final gravity, hopping, and adjuncts as a reference point @PhilBallins.

This will be the 4th bottled release of I Must Break You (2015 1st release - Koval 4 Grain Whiskey, 2015 2nd release - Mississippi Distilling, 2016 - Breckenridge) and you can always find the bottle log here for your reference.

This upcoming release was aged in Old Forester Bourbon Barrels @Italy61587.

So I had saved a bottle of the 2017 BA Quiet Giant for Christmas this year as it (to my tastes) seemed like the perfect Christmas time beer. I cracked it this evening and it was completely flat - like completely flat as if the beer had never been sealed. I've had it stored properly the whole time and I was surprised to have it come out flat. I thought maybe it was just me, but I checked some recent reviews on here and it seems they've also had the same issue. The bottle was only like 6 months maybe 7 tops from the bottling date, so its not like I've sat on it for a long time. I have not yet contacted Imperial Oak (I'll do that next week after Christmas), but I wanted to give people on here a heads up in case they're still sitting on any bottles. Its really disappointing since that beer on tap was one of my favorite beers of 2017.

I agree,on tap it was one of the best beers I've had this year but opened a bottle a couple months ago and it was a flat sweet sticky mess. I have 1 bottle left and it would be great if you could somehow re-carb it, if that's at all possible and see how it turns out.

I had the same problem for the same beer / year. Barely any hiss when opened almost totally flat.

I did receive a response from Imperial Oak - they acknowledged that the bottles were less carbonated then they intended, but since theres nothing wrong with the beer they aren't doing a general recall/refund. Which, to be honest, I didn't expect them to do. They did offer to buy me a beer at the taproom which I'll take them up on once I get over there again.

I moved a bottle up in the rotation due to this. I looked back at my October review of my first bottle and was reminded it looked flat, but I chalked that up to barrel aging, and didn't note any deficiency. We'll see what three more months tastes like.
