Yeah, I considered that. Realistically you always see some guys/gals in this forum say "shit, I'm out of town that week" or "something came up and I couldn't get there!" so while I think that's generally true, it's still a nice gesture.

It's sort of like what Beer Temple does for their BCS release; they give people shots on both Saturday and Sunday morning to get the beer. You still have to be serious, but you at least get more than one shot.

Was the same true of the Radio Swan cans, that is, they were picked up on the Monday before release? TIA.

I have to say that I appreciate the 6pm release time on a weekday, as opposed to the 3pm or noon or whatever on a week day that some places do. It makes it a bit easier for people who are working during the week, or at least gives them a CHANCE to get something. A middle of the day week day release I would always miss 100% of the time. An evening release if I play my cards right and time it out ok, I at least have a chance of making it there in time to get something.
I also appreciate that the beer release then also goes on tap.

Just to add my two cents, i think the fact that those of us who show up early and sit at the bar get to buy 4 packs there is great. My girlfriend and I showed up around 5, had a few beers and dinner, then grabbed the 4 packs at 6 and were on our way. We specifically talked about how much more pleasant this was than having to stand in line for that hour, and we spent more money at the restaurant than we would have otherwise. I hope we can keep doing this at the future releases. Seems like a win win to me.

I fully agree. It gives the working man a fighting chance. The working/family man still has a tough go of it, but that's my problem.

So it looks like for hot beers the recipe to get one is going to be arrive before release and get a table or seat. Is it as awkward for your servers as it is for the customer if we sit there for 30min to an hour without ordering anything just to get cans or are we "made" to get beer and food while we wait?

Only shitty people would do that.

If you're not going to order anything, why would you feel the need to take a seat? Just stand in line. It's not like there's a long line at 5:30.

Yep, House's post has had the expected affect.

Personally I do think you should probably order a beer if you're taking a seat. Most restaurants aren't gonna let you hang out and take valuable space away from potential paying customers.

We didn't have one table just sit there and get absolutely nothing and just wait for cans. Can't see how anyone would do that to be honest. Cause if you are that early and we're going to have beer or food you were just in line and gone within 15 min with your cans.

Got the very last 4pk around 6:45pm, it is a damn fine beer.

I have a feeling we are 1-2 releases away from it becoming a madhouse for any can release.

This - I don't see why you wouldn't just get early and wait in line.

Does priority go to people in line or people in seats?

If you get there half an hour early, even if they did prioritize seats first, do you honestly think you in line will not get the beer? It just doesn't make sense to me.

I got there 10 minutes early yesterday and was out by 6:25ish I'd say. It sold out 20 minutes later. Not a huge gap of time.

They are handed out at the same time. There isn't unlimited seating in the bar and not everyone sitting is ordering cans so cans are available to all those who lined up in the same time frame as those who sat down.

You are either a huge asshole or being purposely obtuse.

    [begins selfish observation]

To echo what (I believe it was Sean) said, it does kind of suck for those of us who make it a point to go to places like FR or Corridor regularly, but who can't get out of work in time to beat hundreds of others to the limited cans, most of whom I guarantee only show up for releases.

Fuck it, I'll say it: start a mug club or a FWB!

    [end of selfish observation]
