These were my thoughts as well. Thanks for the tips/suggestions. I have a 2014 Chocolate Rain.....would that get some attention if I were to bring it or do I need a larger whale? Ha

I've done two (MD '15 and Assassin '17) and brought one TG waxed bottle and 2-3 more good bottles usually.

Usually I was meeting up with another local (there 3 of us at Assassin!) and we just kind of stood there sharing among ourselves, and when travelers saw the TG bottles, they tended to approach us about pours and usually had something awesome in return.

@Centinela had pretty spot on advice regarding etiquette. If you don't have something crazy, it isn't a big deal, but people may be less receptive to share something crazy back.

 

I've never had any of those. ISO.

 

Does TG do growlers out of their taproom?

A trip to Decorah has been on my list for awhile.

 

Yeah, but it's always limited to the core beers - Sue, Dotz, Nug, and maybe Pompeii.

Pulpit is a little more liberal with opening the line up to growlers, but that depends on availability.

 

I wouldn't worry about having a super rare or hyped whale to share, most people at the shares I attended weren't concerned in the least that someone was matching their level of rarity and hype they were just happy to share and talk beer with other beer nerds. And to be honest my favorite part of the shares was trying everyone's favorite new or yet to be hyped beers from their local spots around the world.

TG said on twitter they have a surprise for their public opening on friday I think and then said something to a person who tweeted about missing out on MD lottery and now the surprise to "just show up early for our public opening"

Just flipping through the tweets, I didn't see anything about Friday? Looks to me like he's referring to the public opening after MD release on Saturday.

 

I'm assuming it will be an onsite offering. I don't think they would do a bottle release right after handing out MD bottles. If that's the case I'm not sure I want to stand in line for 1-3 hours waiting when there will be a bunch of cool events going on that day.
