More Brewing Co. (StB) - (2018)

I prefer Mikerphone's beer so far, but More's space is WAY more appealing (no pun intended).

Plus, the neighborhood is more appealing as well; I'll take the small town charm of Villa Park over an industrial park in Elk Grove Village any day.

But I agree with some above, there's enough beer nerds to keep both afloat.

 

Went to More for the first time on Sunday afternoon. I liked what I had. Tueka, sourendipity, and peach/mango sourendipity. Unfortunately, was was a little disappointed that it was all that was available of the More brews. Crazy how much they’re going through. I was immensely impressed with the peach/mango sourendipity, 100x better than the base berliner. Burger and Hot Chicken sandwiches also very good.

 

They're open so many hours a week. Roughly 75 or so, right? I think in hindsight, they probably could've held off on crowlers for a month or two. Just hard to keep these styles in stock doing both. In any case, things worked themselves out at Mikerphone and I imagine the same will be true of More once September hits

 

Was at More yesterday. DDH Dusty is the real deal!

 

Maybe we will see a mikerphone/more collaboration beer in the future

I stopped by today and overheard that a stout will be available soon as they catch up and focus on taproom beer availability.
I look forward to it.

 

DDH Dusty is a very good pale ale. You can tell Shaun is already dialing it in significantly. Really abundant citrus aroma and flavor, slightly dry finish with a good mouthfeel for a 6% abv. The place is slammed at 8:45PM on a Thursday.

They also have some guest drafts available now: Half Acre Pony, Alter Brewing Alto Porto, Desthil Blueberry Gose, Off Color Sparkle Finds (some) Trouble, Pig Minds Vanilla Bitch Slap and Two Brothers Prairie Path Ale.... place is slowly but surely coming around.

 

I have been surprised at the apparent business the place is doing. They're open 11-11 every day and whenever I've been there or driven by - there is always a decent crowd.

 

this looks DAMN good. anyone try the strawberry kiwi sourenity yet?

 

I had the Strawberry Kiwi and think I liked it the best out of the regular vs mango/peach. I liked it, was very refreshing and not overly tart/acidic. The fruit is very apparent. I'm not too used to that style, and the strawberry & kiwi really make it taste like something other than beer but not in a bad way. Just tough to describe for me.

 

I'll be heading up there in about 3 hours to get some crowlers. I'm loving this working from the western suburbs on Fridays like i've been doing lately.

 

Drinking the reg and strawberry kiwi now. Nice and refreshing on a warm summer day.

Very light. Not very sour. Like drinking lemonade, minus the lemons.

 

I preferred the strawberry/kiwi flavored over the base, but the flavored tasted more like a watermelon shot.

 

DDH Dusty crowlers still going 1pp. Draft size max is down to 10 oz though....

Climbing Through Windows was fine. More bitterness than compared to Shaun's usual. Disclaimer: El Dorado (there's Amarillo too) is not my favorite star Hop for a NE IPA

 

I hope Shaun won't mind me sharing:

-A new hoppy beer coming Tuesday. Not sure on hops (I may have failed you by not remembering)
-glassware is not coming super soon but will be coming after an order is placed in the near future
-A Juicy type of beer is not imminent due to the Galaxy shortage. Loose Candies was meant to be similar but was more different than expected.

Shaun is super friendly so ask your bartender if you want to bend his ear. Solid early afternoon crowd there today. The Noon Whistle folks were also there for a chat which was cool to see

 

Anyone know if ddh dusty is still able to go for crowlers today? Anything else stand out right now to go?
