What beer are you drinking now? #1756

Good Morning BA
I'm going big for review #150 this morning. I originally bought this beer in June to put away to celebrate the end of night shifts on the outage I have been working. Those guys are now into their 5th week of continuous 12 hour nights. I put in my notice and told them I'm taking some days off. I start a new job a week from Monday. This one pays supervisors for additional shifts addded to their schedule.

I love this beer. I only buy it about once a year due to price, but it's outstanding. A musical selection for the day...

Cheers everyone! Today I wanted to make empanadas but not twelve. And not even six or eight. To learn cooking, scaling down a recipe can teach you a lot. I should get three empanadas and my dough is chilling. OK Beer!

I'll have a beer while I wait for my oven. In my cookbook that I will never write , the most frequently repeated instruction is "drink beer and wait."

For lunch Paella with this . . .




Beautiful deep amber color, moderate cap and lacing.

Aroma of slightly roasted sweet malt with little hops apparent.

Taste is flavorful simplicity. A smooth, rounded amber brew with no rough edges and a pleasant malt richness without any bitterness. A food beer if ever there was one for South of the Border influenced cuisine.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's a food beer and not something to sip and contemplate. It goes well with company, cookouts, and just about any time or place where a beer a bit above average hits the spot.

Well after much time off I think it's time for me to start aggressively photographing my beer and food again.

To start back, here is a local IPA aged in cabernet wine barrels.



It's a crappy screen grab from my Snapchat. And I didn't get one of the Zombie Dust and steak... They will get better haha.

Falls City is the brewer, it was a really smooth and interesting beer for sure. It also looked a bit more red in person.

 

One of my favorite day off lunches, 1/2 Italian sub from Publix & beer. Today's partner is a Clementine White Ale from Clown Shoes. Very refreshing summer beer.

 

That would be the greatest direction ever in a cook book. I for one would buy a copy. Looking at your food posts are fantastic and I believe that I speak for many of us. Looking forward to getting off work and pulling up a seat at the virtual bar. Cheers!
