Bad Trader: @tvonhein

    @tvonhein had not completed any trades, so I take the blame for going through with the deal. I still wanted to put it out there so that others didn't get duped like myself. @tvonhein had been a BA member for almost two years and had a couple open trades. Due to a houseboat trip I was going on last weekend, I agreed to ship around the same time. I traded some BA Ten Fidy and couple local hop cans for what should have been a combo of Treehouse and Trillium.

    @tvonhein was great in communication up front. He confirmed that he received my package and said he'd ship by Friday 7/28 (we agreed to the deal on 7/24). I know have multiple unreturned messages over the last 10ish days and my last one was sent on Thursday 8/3 warning him that I was going to report him as a bad trader.

    Again, I put this on myself for trusting him. In all my time on this site people have been nothing but great. I'll take those odds and move on, but would not recommend anyone deal with @tvonhein.

    I have to ask if the trade was accepted through the ba system. I know you've been a member here for awhile but it seems to be the first question that pops up.

    If it did go through ba it may be helpful to post some of the conversation. Specifically when he agreed to ship on that date and that he received your beer.

    It sucks that you are out beer and unfortunately I'm not much help as I'm nowhere near treehouse or trillium.

    Good luck and hopefully something tragic didn't happen to the other party.

    @jrnyc I didn't get a phone number, clearly something I should do moving forward.

    @FFFjunkie the trade was accepted through BA. I'll live and not the end of the world, just unfortunate and I want to make sure others don't run into any issues. I do agree, hopefully he's OK! Some of our convo included below:


    1. I'll have that list for you tomorrow and it will be shipped out by the end of the week

      I got the package. You killed it on the extras, thank you so much. With that said I am stepping up my game for extras and I'm heading up to trillium right now. Do you want me to throw you a couple as extras or would you prefer a more even split between TH and trillium, like 4-5 of each.

    His communication in the bm and that thread is excellent and very forthcoming, doesn't sound like someone who is trying to scam someone. Hopefully there are some life circumstances at play here and you get your beer.

    I will agree that the communication is spot on and I wouldn't have worried about not receiving beer either. Definately odd behavior....

    Since the trader in question has been back online without any response, it appears some help may be needed...

    If you got time to receive and drink someone else's beer, not send what you owe, completely disrespect your trade partner with any communication, and still have the audacity to peruse the site...well...thats definitely a *BAD TRADER*.

    You've been tagged a bad trader. You've got a couple of options.....

    (1) come in here and apologize to your trade partner and resolve this issue sooner than later
    (2) you can message me directly, and we can resole this matter amongst you, me, and the OP....or

    (3) failure to do either of the above will probably end up with you lose trading privelages and site privelages.

    Your choice.....clocks ticking

    Thanks guys. I did message colby600. He's far too kind and it's everything I love about the beer community! But also very unnecessary...it just proves even further how great 99.9% of BA people are!

    You are right. It is totally unecessary, but..its done to make a *wrong*...right. If you do take @colby600 up on his offer of good karma...you can always pass that along to someone else whose wronged in the future if you are able to.

    There are a ton of great people on this site, and often in times like these, is when you see the community come together.
