I don't love the chair rule either, but it's the way they do things so there's not much that can be done until something changes. But I don't see the part about the milkshake release bringing out the worst in people. Everyone we spoke to today was more than friendly, even the people who we told were heading in the wrong direction because the line was all the way down the street and turning away from the brewery. And I was hanging out by the garage door at the end when the sold out and nobody complained. I was actually kind of surprised to see people laughing it off and smiling as they walked away shrugging their shoulders.

Normally I'd agree, but I'm not so sure I agree with this for this particular release. They were marking wrists when they checked IDs and the people who got shut out at the end were people who got onto the end of the line before noon, which is before the first allotment was sold. There were also at least half a dozen TH staff patrolling the different junction points, so the chance of anyone line jumping is pretty slim.

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but it was a pretty great day at TH today. The staff and the customers were pleasant and friendly, and it was a pretty relaxed scene all around.

That last Double Strawberry (which was a weekday) was on par with that, probably more. But they had more allotments of that.

I have never, and will never, go to a weekend release.

I understand the chairs are a thing, but mostly talking about the people that left chairs overnight. I have also met many really nice people in line, but I have also seen the other side of people being excessively greedy, people cutting in line, people setting up extra chairs to sell and such. It is a much different scene from non-milkshake/collab releases.

I think the number of chairs left overnight was exaggerated by people who didn't really go and see them. I know you didn't go and reports on facebook and instagram differed on the chairs. Instagram posts lean toward some chairs being placed early in the morning with the owners leaving immediately to return toward opening.

I heard from friends that this line was long, turnout was huge, but people behaved and did not abuse the line order. Yes, people got closed due to the extremely high turnout but nobody got to double-dip the milkshake allotment.

We showed up at 5:30 and there was one human being in front of us, and 41 chairs in front of us. The interesting thing was that although I was the 42nd chair, when the line was ready to open I counted more than 70 people ahead of me. So there wasn't even a 1:1 correspondence between chairs and people.

For what it's worth, we waited in person the entire time.

I think I'm checked out after today's release. The chairs I can handle,
Got there at 6:45 and was nearly halfway down the side street headed towards Athens. I watched people stop their cars, run out and throw a chair down, and leave for the next 30 mins. I need to remember sunblock for the next time. My face and arms are red as hell lol.

I thought I read that the majority of chairs was people dropping off their chairs and dashing starting at 5am like @LuckyOneSix described above.

I'm OK with a chair per couple of people. I'd object if multiple people kept coming late for the single chair (one chair does not equal a group of people imo).

Oh, they certainly did that in the last 15 minutes before release. It was funny looking up to cricket, after all the chairs have been picked up, to see the island literally jammed with people. I'm sorry, but once the chairs are up, that line should have condensed substantially to the point where folks from the side street would be directed to cross the street on to the island before noon.

Also what is that token in the Facebook trading group? I obviously know it is not a Willy Wonka style golden ticket but I am curious nonetheless.

think they were given out to people who helped clean up/volunteered

my guess is you give that to them at some point in time to get the TH nalgene bottle or a pint etc.. not sure exactly as I've never done their volunteer stuff

Yeah, sorry I wasn't more clear on that. From the time we got there at 5:30 until at least 9 the majority of the people did exactly what you described. They pulled up, dropped a chair off, and then took off.

Aside from Alien Church and a bottle of Ourison the csa list is pretty much a Tired Hands showcase of beers I would have someone try to get a feel for the brewery.

I'm going to be in Philadelphia Wednesday, how long do you guys expect Extra Vanilla Milkshake to be on draft at the Brew Cafe?

As I pointed out Sunday it was out 40 minutes after opening Sunday st the ferm. Probably by 1-2pm at the cafe. It's long gone man. You'll have to find a can.

Alright... I want to buy a bottle or two of the Tired Hands offerings at the General Store, but I don't like "sour" beers. I like funky beers. Can anyone with personal experience point me in the right direction?

Ourison & Shambolic should fit the bill. They're lightly tart & mineral-y, in the vein of Hill Farmstead's saisons (though not quite at that level).

Hmm, looking at their list now and my review notes I would recommend Shambolic, having a bit more of a sweeter finish than tart, and Eyes Closed and Open had a little more body from the oats to balance out any sourness in the finish imo.
Ourison is always solid of course too.
Haven't had my bottles of PurPec or Singing Swans but their bottle of Roomarak which was also brewed with grapes was more funky than tart.

The tokens are given out by the bartenders at either the Ferm or the Cafe. I'm sure the wait staff and other workers have a few tucked in their pockets as well. When you visit the General Store you can redeem the token for a free sample of one of the two taps they have. It's usually nothing crazy. I think it was Almost Exactly and Prima Pils when I was there with the token. I have one saved, though I'm not sure what I'm planning on doing with it yet.
