Because it isn't brewed in Greeley if in cans, has to travel all the way up from Denver. Sleeping giants are among us.

The one that just landed is normal. Green can.

The one that landed in July is a brett IPA (with zero hint if brett). White can.

Just grabbed a six pack of this today (the green can "normal" IPA) and having my first one. Man is this tasty. Very soft mouthfeel and very impressed that Crooked Stave is branching out a bit like this. Their new canned beers are definitely flying off the shelves much more than their single 12 oz. sour bottles that, in my opinion, have become somewhat shelf turds.

DDH Rare Trait was really nice, but it's got a bit of burn to it. If you are sitting on a crowler, it could probably benefit from sitting for another week or so.

Can anyone compare Crooked Stave IPA to Trellis Buster? Are they pretty similar in character?

PIcked up a few crowlers of mosaic DDH Juicy Bits last week. Opened one over the weekend, holy shit is that an awesome beer. I had it on draft at WW and it was really good, but the beer I poured from the crowler was on a whole different level in terms of aromatics. At the brewery, I got a lot more green hop burn and less of the stone fruit and tropical notes that were so prevalent yesterday from the crowler. Now I know what you're going to say.... It's the same damn beer, crowler filled from the tap that poured your pint... There's been a lot of discussion about IPAs being too green and needing time, but that's usually a week or 2 minimum. This was a matter of 2 or 3 days. Could that really have made a difference, or am I the prisoner of the moment and it's all in my head?

I should note that after thinking on this some more, I believe all the crowlers were prefilled in this instance, so it probably was a different keg. Either way, the beer is amazing and I'm going to have trouble holding on to the remaining crowlers for much longer... Carry on

It's usually a week or two in cans. In my experience, aging happens way faster in a crowler, so it wouldn't surprise me if two days was all it took to chill out a bit.

    Huh?

Not sure if this is in response to my Weldwerks post above, but I am definitely having trouble deciphering your point other than you're still upset about the 5 month old Puesto cans.

I understand why you're disappointed but if you're going to constantly bitch about being sold old Puesto cans then I highly recommend sending a pm to @Tarheel4985 ,
emailing them or call them and ask to speak to a manager. I'm sure they will have no problem making things right with you. Fucking Puesto cans!

I think the ipa is a lot better. Trellis Buster just seemed heavier but not hoppier. Big fan of the ipa and glad to have it on shelves at $10.

Sorry for the confusion with the cans @wyoming. As others mentioned, we brew Puesta del Sol kegs in Greeley but the cans are brewed and packaged by Sleeping Giant down in Denver since we don't have a canning line. So the batch you purchased is the last batch we brewed with Sleeping Giant, even though it was packaged in the spring. But based on sensory tests we have done with previous batches alongside our current draft batches, the shelf life for Puesta cans is at least 6 months (likely longer, thanks to filtration and low DO from their canning line).

But we're happy to issue a refund or replace your purchase with a different beer in crowlers. Just shoot me an email and we'll make it right (neil at weldwerksbrewing.com).

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Who said anything about kissing their medals? Anyway, you got your response. Problem solved.
