There were police officers monitoring the line on opening day and respectful bottle sharing was allowed. Don't bring a clear cup, clean up after yourself, and act like an adult and you'll be fine.

I would just anticipate a 1pp allotment, and anything more than that would be a bonus. Based on how popular the brewery is already, as well as the reputation that Shaun has, there wouldn't be a need to have more than a 1pp allotment in order for his entire inventory to be moved in a matter of an hour. This way it gets the beer into the largest number of people possible and curbs some of the benefits of bringing a mule strictly for the bottles.

That makes sense. However I have been hearing 2 PP, maybe 3 depending on turnout. I dont think any brewery releases for barrel aged stouts have ever been 1 PP. Or at least none I have been to ha. That is extremely low production. I guess this all depends on how much was made and how big turnout is.

It's not barrel aged. Also I think Smore Luv and Me-He-Coco were both 1pp and not BA, so hopefully the batch sizes at More are significantly bigger than those at RAM.

Yeah I hope so to. 1 pp would be a let down for sure, at least IMO

From a consumer and a parent who can't spend 3 hours waiting in line for beer, I'd love to see a 1 pp/allotment per day and make it so that the beer can (potentially) make it into the hands of more local people.

However, I do understand the brewer knows that this will sell out immediately so it's probably in their best interest to just move product quickly and get back to business as usual. Reward the folks who can put in the effort and deal with the backlash from those who can't put in the effort. I know there's no perfect way to handle high-demand releases, but I am curious to hear what other BA'ers think about releases and what can be done to maximize distribution and minimize butt-hurt.

At this rate, I just hope this hits the tap so I can give it a try sometime.

Same here, the family and I will be in town for a weekend trip and I would love to drop in grab a bottle and go. However, I'm guessing hour or more would be needed plus the drive from Schaumburg area. I'll have to keep an eye on this thread and see if a detour will be needed on the way back to the Quad CIties.

I think the release is reasonable. 11 am isn't too early, so most people should be able to get there a couple hours early and get bottles. I would like to see it on tap PRIOR to the release so we can get an idea of how good it is.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for it to be more than 1pp allotment. But I'm just thinking if he's trying to market his (new) brand a bit further by spreading the available bottles to as many hands as he can without resorting to distribution, that would be a descent way of doing it. My hope is that it is a 2pp allotment, but I won't disappointed either way.

Both S'more Luv and Meh-he-co-co were 2pp. S'more Luv was dropped to 1 pp after 150 people went through the line.

Very few releases are 1pp, whether BA or not. I'd be shocked if the limit started at 1.

Definitely a good way to do releases, but not for all types of beer. Especially for something that's an IPA. I get it for barrel aged releases. Loved Chaos day at RAM. Hopefully they do that for any upcoming BA beers, but for now, I really enjoy lining up and sharing with like-minded beer folk.

What's the over/under on the number of "FT: Henna ISO: MDb4" posts? I'm interested in the over bet...

Very interesting approach and something that I could see working if breweries are willing to pay to use such a system. I think I'd be even more for the system if there's a means of controlling a person's ability to pick up multiple orders. Because we all know that if there's a system in place for beer, someone is going to work that system for their own gain.

Was talking to the bartender on Sunday and he said the bottle count was pretty low on this release (he said 600-800 bottles, which I think is similar to Ram counts?). He thought 2 per, but also said he wouldn't be surprised with 1 each, so for whatever that is worth.

You never know. I remember people laughing at the idea of getting FO for Smore Luv.

Regardless, I'm planning on getting in line. Just debating how early I need to get there.

I like the system as well. Other Half takes the opposite approach and encourages the long lines and hype as it generates free marketing. Toss in a couple stupid ass tekus with vegetables on it and people (for some odd reason) go apeshit and drive in from all over the mid-Atlantic to line up for 4-5 hours. i personally hate lines which is why I rarely go to releases anymore. Guess it all depends on how you value your time.

I really enjoyed Chaos Day and hope Shaun has a lot of success. Will be interesting to see if/how he mixes it up with release methods as he continues to grow in popularity

And if I'm a business owner, I sure as shit want that publicity.
