Chicagoland NE IPAs (2018)

person working at Binnys told me Warpigs Foggy Geezer is hitting distro in cans this week

 

I could see that. I did hear September originally.

 

From what I had on draft 2 weeks ago, solid beer but not a NEIPA. Does anyone know if the cans are labeled "NEIPA" ?

 

I did a quick google image search earlier today actually. Looks like it's called "Hazy IPA" on the cans.

 

If it's half as impressive as Lazurite, I'm going to be very happy. Hope FFF does another Warpigs event this fall, but it's a few weeks past when they announced it last year so probably not.

 

I should've also said that at this point I simply prefer FR, Corridor, and More. They've surpassed Mike in terms of where my palate is at. The bad format is just a cherry on top for me (or whatever the opposite of a cherry on top is).

 

It's not half as impressive and it seems as if WP is attempting to distance themselves from FFF and Mik and be seen as an independent operation

 

Saw Insufficient Clearance and Foggy Geezer dropping locally. What's the word on Insufficient Clearance?

 

Insufficient Clearance was rated incredibly high by Draft magazine. I shared a growler of it and thought it was quite good. It's low-ABV which I like as a change of a pace, especially in this style. It's a little thin and doesn't have quite as chewy or pillowy of a mouthfeel, but I'd pick it up for the beach or a round of golf or a night cap brew.

 

That works, sounds like I'll be golfing on the beach tonight!

 

Squeezit V3 (Mosaic, Citra, Galaxy) is set for transfer tomorrow. Should be ready to roll by 5pm. Tasting really good! This one is headed to Denver for GABF judging. Wish us luck.

 

It's solid. Really enjoyed this one! They sold out of it fast at Mikerphone, but I'm told some went to distro.

 

Old Irving Brewing really stepped it up with Trendiii
Totally different beer now from the first time I had it. The beer looks like juice that just got poured from a carton of Tropicana...and I mean that in a good way. Looks good. Totally different from earlier versions. Mosaic and Citra hops...hell yes! Really enjoying this one.

 

I've seen this popping up in distro today. Never heard of it. What's the back story? Is a Mikerphone employee brewing this at Mike's place?

And the Trendiii is good, assuming you are having V3, but I thought needs something else like a little hop bite or some complexity to give it more oomph and less sweet.

Anyone try out the new Dryhop IPA? Thoughts?

 

We split a growler of it this weekend. We had Farnsworth Street from Trillium and I legitimately thought For Hops & Giggles was as good or better.

We also had Headroom and that was on a different level. So for me, it fell between Farnsworth and Headroom which I mean as a pretty big compliment.

Definitely the nineteenth best IPA I've ever had.
