I'm heading to Lexington next week Fri-Sun are there any breweries or liquor stores I should hit while I am down there. I am bringing money in the hopes of Pappy however if no dice I have a lot of money to spend on beer. I am also probably going to bring a few bottles of Surly Darkness to trade if I find some people who are willing.
You're going to Bourbon Capital, USA... you will literally be in Bourbon County... Disregard beer, acquire Bourbon.
Well you won't be able to find bottles of pappy to buy but hit up bluegrass tavern if you want to sip on it as they have a massive bourbon collection. West sixth brewing will have their barrel room open at night between Friday-Saturday so that is a must if you love barrel aged beers. Snake cake is one of the best BBA beers I have tried. Country boy brewing has a massive tap list and always has something great on tap. I would hit their chair ave location in Lexington if I was you. They do sours very well. Ethereal brewing is a good spot esp if they have any of their barrel stuff on tap. You would have to check their instagram or Facebook to know what's up. Liquor barn is the liquor store you want to hit up. Massive selection of everything you want and a great beer spot too. The beer Trappe is my favorite bottle shop as they have something special on tap usually and a great selection of bottles that no one else gets. Actually, they might have their anniversary week festivities so def hit them up. Their tap list during the week is superb! Ummm beyond that, enjoy!
Yeah, if you just want to try Pappy, that's pretty easy around here, even dive bars have bottles. Getting one for yourself is another issue. It can be done, though.
I'll be headed to Lexington today. Any recommendations on restaurants or kid friendly bars? I'll have my one year old daughter along for the visit.
I've got a one year old myself. Our favorite places are West Sixth Brewery, which has a fish and burger restaurant in the same building, and Ethereal Brewery, which has a pizza place next door. Both are great breweries with large spaces and you won't feel out of place at either with your daughter.
