Had Thunder God at lunch. Was ok, nothing amazing. Great chocolate on the nose. Maybe it needs a few weeks to mellow.

How often does Fieldworks release cans?

Lately it's been every Friday and satuarday,
But that's only been the case for about a month. Before that it was more like every 2 or 3 weeks. Today they have 2 cans available.

4 cans total this weekend. Nice variety of styles.

Pulp & Party cove cans both sold out after release on Friday.

Tiger Uppercut and Chocolate Thunder God were released on Saturday.

This batch of Pulp was terrific. Did anyone have Chocolate Thunder? Was going to pick one up on the way home but got lazy.

This please me to hear that since I think that same batch is being brought down to festival of dankness this weekend. Would be nice to have it again.

PULP really never suffered from any issues that a few other canned beers (Galaxy Juice) had 6 months ago. It has always been great from batch to batch.

They have Pulp really good right now, could be their "Flagship" beer.

On a side note, Interesting that they are bringing 2 different Lagers to FOD. Shame they are not bringing "Casa De Citra" Lager, that one is my favorite of the Lagers they are rotating this summer..

Maybe it was a bad can I had then and then of course attributed it to the entire batch as being bad....because that is what we do here. Logic tossed out the window and jump-to-conclusions mat brought on out.

But yes, I do recall that Galaxy Juice bad batch and that made me a sad panda as that is my favorite from Fieldwork.

The lagers will be nice as it is suppose to be warmer this weekend than previous...so something really light will be refreshing and the couple stouts being brought will be a nice shock to the palate to help it reset to enjoy more ipas.

I liked the previous batch of pulp more but it totally could just be the circumstances under which I drank the two. The latest one was still super good.

Was really hoping they'd bring king citra to the dankness fest. I might like that one a smidge more than pulp.

Dunno what the Fest of Dankness lineup is but I did have a pint of Green Stripe Dank Lager last night, and it was surprisingly quite flavorful and a great starter. If San Francisco were actually warm, it'd have been amazing. But still, I pick it over Pulp (I'm not really into 100% Citra NE style beers).

Is pulp all citra? I actually never looked at its hop bill.

    Yeah for Fieldwork single-hop haze:

St Thomas - 100% Mosaic IPA (they call it NE, but it's not really)
    Overripe! - 100% Blanc IPA
Orchard Street - 100% Amarillo IPA
St Monroe - 100% Amarillo DIPA
    Pulp - 100% Citra IPA
King Citra - 100% Citra DIPA
Galaxy Juice - 100% Galaxy IPA
Galaxy Sauce - 100% Galaxy DIPA

So, I'm sitting at the Trillium beer garden on the Greenway in Boston, and I'll tell you, I wouldn't trade Fieldwork away for any other Hops brewery. And I'll tell you why. Trillium to me is similar to Cellarmaker & Moonraker (I also wouldn't trade away them) in that they have a great style (whether it be their consistent yeast strain or whatever) to where you know you are going to like every beer they make, and can pretty much call out blind when you are having one. Much like how Cellarmaker is close to my home and I go there all the time, if Trillium was next door to them I'd hit them both up every time.

    On this trip I've tried:
    DDH Stillings
    DDH Melcher
    Galaxy Fort Point
    Fort Point
    Pocket Pigeon
    Vicinity

They are all very good, and I could drink them every day - and the easy can access? Fuhgetboutit. But the beers are also very similar. The only one that really stands out from the others is the Galaxy fort point, and that's because it's like Galaxy hops threw up in a fort point pale.

The above post talks about FW single Hop beers. Nobody would ever mistake any of them for one of the others. And that's not taking into account all the great West coast, hazy West coast, and NE style hops fieldwork does. At Cellarmaker, Moonraker, and Trillium, I absolutely could mistake up to 6 of those beers for another. It's not a negative though - want to make that clear. Using Trillium as an example, Vicinity had some delicious pine and the Galaxy Fort Point is pineapple juice, but the others were just juice bombs - I liked them all except GHFP, but that's not the point here. Likewise, anyone that's been to Cellarmaker and had 100+ of their hoppy beers, like I have, knows they all are at WORST decent and have a very distinct profile. Delicious, but similar.

I think Fieldwork does the widest range of GOOD hop styles of any Norcal Brewery. I love Shoreline to Relative Hoppiness to straight up Bay Area Haze champion Pulp. They might be running 4th in the Norcal Hop hierarchy behind MR, CM, and AS, but they definitely the most unique of the bunch.

    * Disclaimer * I've had 6 10 oz pours of hoppy trillium beers.

The only thing I'd add is that AS kettle sours are in a league of their own. I can't believe how good they are.

Their (Fieldwork) NE-style still hasn't nailed the mouthfeel for me in comparison to Trillium and Tired Hands. Love a bunch of their East-West hybrids, but for my palate their brown ales are their class act. And RR still belongs in your hop hierarchy for Norcal...long before AS gets inclusion. TETO

I don't have a source for NE haze so I would have to rely on the open trade market if I wanted any. That, alone, is enough of an obstacle to keep me from pursuing Trillium et. al. Since our local breweries produce perfectly delicious products, the convenience, time, and financial savings from drinking those products exclusively outweigh any perceived benefits from drinking Trillium and the like. It just isn't worth it for me personally.

This 100%. I have zero motivation to do trades - it's kind of fun, but I don't have time to chase trade bait these days. Plus what is trading from the bay nowadays? I used to trade Sante stuff but it's a real bitch to get over the 17.
