I'm taking Mrs O out for dinner tonight and the place we're going doesn't publish their beer menu (I dislike that - a LOT), so I'm pregaming at home AND reducing my stash - who said old guys can't mult-task???

The hops have faded a bit in this, but its spicier. I think I like it better with some whiskers.

Rewarding myself at Rosati's despite my lackluster 5k performance in Indy. I didn't run a terrible race, just not good enough as I was seconds short of hitting my age group board. I had too much left at the end which tells me my eye was on next weeks region race instead. In all, the Indianapolis Colts and the city hosted a very well organized event. Sprinting the sideline hash marks afterwards was worth the price of admission!

    G' evening BA's!
Had to drop off some clothes for my son at the university and since Brew Hub is 20 minutes away (another reason why I'm glad he chose Florida Poly!) I had to drop in for a quick visit and some pick ups!

The swan that's from the Rome City IPA can, one of my favorites right now.

They can all the Toppling Goliath brews, so of course I had to have a Golden Nugget!

#2, this is a fun ride, it does taste similar to iced tea.

Good evening BA, hope everyone had a good Saturday so far. Really productive day today. I got the yeast pitched before Noon, and I bottled a Star Thistle mead I made last year since the star san was in use. Did it straight from auto siphon to bottle wand(never done so before). Got 10 bottles perfectly filled, last one had a little yeast. I have a cyser I want to add cinnamon to as well; but I will need to back sweeten it somehow, because it tastes way too dry and acidic. I may be brewing again next weekend as well to get rolling back into the fun again. I forgot how much I enjoy it.

    Today's Reviews:

Great Vienna! Great head retention and lacing down the glass. Crystal clarity. Aromas and flavors of big brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nutty, and light cocoa/coffee malts; with moderate herbal, grassy, peppery noble hops. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish. Medium body/carbonation and moderately crisp. Balanced bready/grainy malts and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Touch of chalky roast. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness; slight bitter astringency lingers. Really spot on for the style. Though, I will say it is just a little too bitter and roasty to be perfect; the overall flavor character is what I would expect to see. Perfectly clean lagering, never yeasty. 4

Great APWA. Fantastic head retention and thick lasting lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pepper, and pine hops; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium body/carbonation; balanced bready/grainy wheat and sticky hops in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness; no hop astringency. Just an APA with a ton of wheat in it. Minimal yeast esters from what I can tell. No complaints, I like hops. Very juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank hop character. Refreshingly drinkable. 4.03

This was pretty nice. Awesome head retention and lasting lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, melon, pear, red apple, and peppercorn; with balanced wheat, cracker, biscuity malts; with mild herbal/grassy noble hop earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium body/carbonation; nice bready/grainy wheat mouthfeel, slight hop/spice stickiness. Touch of increasing dryness. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Refreshing, flavorful, and balanced. I've had better showcases of Yuzu, but this is good stuff. Not as vibrant as I wanted. Grains of paradise worked well. Unique but enjoyable. 3.71

Traditionally I've been trying these beers after 2 years cellar time. It's that time now. I've had all but Papier(not counting special barrel aged variations). Same goes with the Xmas series, no PIAPT. Anyways: This is insane! Aromas and flavors of huge caramel, toffee, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, coconut, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and brown bread; with moderate raisin, plum, prune, fig, cherry, date, red grape, sherry, and red wine yeast fruitiness; and lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, leather, tobacco, peppercorn, smoke, and yeasty earthiness. Light herbal/woody bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; very creamy/silky mouthfeel; lightly slick, syrupy, sticky, chalky, and tannic. Lightly increasing bourbon/tannic oak dryness. No cloying sweetness. Pleasantly warming 16.2%, with a bit of lingering booze. Dangerously smooth sipping. I reviewed Sucre in March(missed the schedule), but was not as impressed with it as the rest of the series that was 100% BBA. This takes it right back. The balance between rich malts, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel character is damn near perfect. This also lacks the butterscotch notes(as the Sucre did), that the previous ones had showcased. Even though this is a solera of the same beer every year, it is still a different experience every time. 4.47
