How did you like the Tinley breweries? They are very different and I like both.

 

Glad I saved my eclipse glasses for this "The Great Eclipse" DIPA from 450 North Brewing. Can never be too careful when enjoying hazy IPAs.

In between the jets/giants preseason here ba. As a jets fan I've been privy to some bad years but this season is going to take the fucking cake. On the deck now, enjoying the rather cool evening, and downing a 12% stout,

Finally got smart enough to give up my season tickets.

 

Windmill Memes and the Giant Peach DIPA. Just released today. Double "milkshake" IPA with lactose, vanilla, oats, Mosaic hops, and over 15 lbs of peaches per barrel. An absolute peach bomb. Super creamy and smooth for 9.4%. Might be the best I've had from them so far. These guys are onto something...getting to that Tired Hands level slowly but surely.

I like to point out at least once a year that you have my favorite avatar on BA. There, done for 2017. Can't wait for LD's return in a little over a month.

 

I went on an Oktoberfest run this morning- got 2-1/2 cases so far. First up is a couple of these in my Big Honkin' Mug-

Somehow the cool morning air, and Oktoberfest on my mind got me in an autumnal mood while driving around. Good thing I have just the kind of music I needed in the car; time to break out the Strawbs, whom I often refer to as "Jethro Tull's nerdy brother" -

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch white head over a hazy, light golden body with some lacing. Extraordinarily nice nose of tropical fruit, slight dank pine, hay, and as it warms a bit of onion. Wonderful flavors of that fruit, but the dankness comes forward with an almost perfect bitter finish. Fantastic feel and overall, almost perfect; and the best Skadoosh I've had (so far!) Cheers!

 

When you decide you've only got room for one beer in your suitcase, you've got to make it count. And some dessert.

 

Tasty brew. Last time was about 6.5 years ago.
