Opened this after breakfast and glad I did . . .

Wow, pretty complex and sophisticated flavors here. On entry the flavors present all together yet there is a high solo voice of Dry Oloroso Sherry richness that hints at but doesn't achieve sweetness. It's as if someone swirled caramel and honey in a bowl, poured it out then filled the bowl with the ripe fruits mention above. Finish brings dark barley notes of chocolate and unsweetened cocoa. I know, those two sound alike but they're not the same.

Good morning BA, have a great Sunday! Nothing special going on today. Regular bottle returns and laundry errands for the day. The Irish red ale I made yesterday hasn't quite kicked off fermentation to full force just yet, but there is a bit of bubbling right now. I think I let my fermentation chamber get a little too cold for the Nottingham, so I bumped it up a few degrees this morning. Definitely will be brewing again next weekend, will likely use Morebeer again for another kit. Just need to figure out which one I want. Hard choices.

    Beers this morning:

Awesome NEIPA! flavors of big tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, peach, mango, honeydew melon, berry, passion fruit, papaya, lemon/orange zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate cracker, biscuit, doughy malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Very mild pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium bodied/carbonation. Nice bready/grainy creaminess and light hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter dryness, never astringent. Insanely drinkable from the mild bitterness. Really damn spot on for the NE IPA, though not quite as murky as most would expect. Super juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank hops; balanced malts with no residual sweetness. Will definitely grab again. Love the hop profile.

Awesome coffee DIPA. Looks paler in color than last year. Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with balanced medium roast coffee, cocoa, and vanilla; caramel, toasted bread malt; and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel and light roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced sticky/resins and creaminess in the mouthfeel; touch of chalkiness from cocoa/coffee. Increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Very drinkable and minimal warming ABV. Pretty much perfectly balanced between cocoa/coffee and citrus/pine hop flavors; not overly sweet/malty. Will definitely be buying a 3rd 6 pack, halfways through the 2nd one. A top favorite.

Always world class. Huge flavors of caramel, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, molasses, raisin, plum, bourbon, toasted oak, vanilla, coconut, and light chocolate. Balancing bourbon/oak spiciness against sweetness; lightly drying from tannins. Full bodied creamy/slick and slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Low alcohol warming on the finish for 12%, never boozy. The malt and barrel integration is amazing. This is basically a year round available offering for me on the shelf, and I keep grabbing more singles weekly(along with BBA Siberian). Prefer this over Backwoods, I revisited that review a couple months ago. Still love both and always keep them around. This seems to have more barrel influence over the malt, which is really the key difference.

Still a shelf sitter, so I am checking this out again. Really good stuff! Big flavors of juicy mango, peach, apricot, pear, pineapple, honey, bread, and herbal/earthy habenero peppers. Light-moderate pepper spice on the finish, that builds through the glass along with heat; but neither becomes too overwhelming. Full-ish bodied with a slick and lightly syrupy mouthfeel as expected; but has zero cloying sweetness. Will definitely grab another one, worth the price. This is delicious. Nothing mind blowing, but delivers exactly what you would expect in the flavors. Very well balanced between fruit and malt sweetness; habenero being light at first, but building up through the glass and drying the sweetness. I always love pepper beers. This batch is a bit better than I recall the original release in 2013, less intense on the habanero peppers than I remember. A lot of people don’t like this, but I love it just for it's uniqueness as a beer.

New Wintersun album is completely amazing. Still waiting on Time II, but this will hold me over for a while.

This will always be my favorite Moonsorrow album. The whole disc is perfect.

I couldn't post last night due to wi-fi issues at the hotel.

For dinner last night, eastern Carolina style pulled pork with collards and field peas, and (appropriately) Boar Brown, an English Brown Ale from Pig Pounder Brewery in Greensboro. Not much to look at or on the nose but as it warmed it features lots of freshly brewed coffee and toffee notes.

After dinner, we took in a Durham Bulls game. The stadium's really nice. This is a Saison de Brüe from Brüeprint Brewing in Apex NC. It had all the right aromas and tastes but nothing really stood out. Cheers from Durham, NC!

Did you check out the museum with all of the statue's outfits? Pretty cool.

And pizza in Brussels? You should be attacking the mussels and frites.
