The Alchemist (August 2017)

During our trip last week they were allocating a small amount of Focal at the brewery each day but were not distributing to local bars/restaurants. We ate/drank at many places around Stowe, Waterbury, and Burlington and no one had Focal. Plenty of Heady, though.

 

How have the recent batches of Skadoosh been? I love Focal, but i've had it enough that I wouldn't sweat missing it if the replacement is good.

 

I don't think you would be disappointed with recent Skadoosh. 9 was great. 10 (available now) is incredible. The best I have had yet!!

 

Is it really skadoosh 10? Or is it just skadoosh citra, which I thought was #5?

 

They called it "X" in a reply on facebook and said it was very similar but had some tweaks

 

Skadoosh 5 was easily best alchemist beer I've had since the truck sales. Sooo good.

 

I have whatever version was being offered the first weekend of August. They were out of both heady and focal then too but the Skidoosh definitely did not disappoint. First time I've had it so I can't compare it to others.

Three weeks in and it might be tasting slightly more dank and slightly less fruity based against my first day review. I'm always suspect of the consistency of my palate though so take it with a grain of salt.

 

I totally agree. I have a couple more left in my fridge. I absolutely loved this beer.

 

This response might be too late for you but others will hopefully benefit. Focal was impossible for me to find at bars/restaurants the week of August 14th. I struck out in Waterbury, Stowe, and Burlington. Nectar's in Burlington told me they hadn't received Focal in a few months. Back in 2015 everywhere had it in Burlington. Luckily I got some four packs from the brewery itself, but this past week they posted on Instagram that they were doing Citra Skadoosh instead of Focal at the brewery.

 

I wonder if Mosaic hops are in short supply? Hopefully be up there in a couple months and they can restock

 

Report from my trip this past week for anyone interested. Arrived Friday night at 6:58 p.m. and bought some Crusher (I knew Heady was sold out but needed a bunch of Crusher for a beer tasting I am hosting in my office). Went back on Saturday around 1pm. Line took about 5-10 minutes to get in the door and moved steadily after that. Very cool space, was great to try a taster of Focal since it wasn't available in cans. Heady was still available, which was awesome. It was such a treat to hand over $80 for a case of delicious beers, having grown accustomed to our much higher prices in Boston.

As an aside, I hadn't had Heady in 2 years and was curious how I would like it after having had so many other newer style beers in the interim from Trillium, Treehouse, etc. It is just as delicious as I remember it. If I lived in that area it would be a staple in my fridge.

Yep, I read the number of lines on the site but they have the two dark ones on the same line. My bad!

 

Is there an easy way to distinguish between the various versions of skadoosh?

 

I don't believe so. All of the Skadoosh cans have looked the same.

 

Related, what version of Skadoosh was on sale last Saturday?

 

Aren't the colors of the 4 pack holders different by color? Obviously not super clear but heard that was in effect

 

This is possible. I've had several of the batches to date and some have had different four pack holder colors, but I don't know if there have been ten different colors.
