Can't dig up any reasonably recent Idle Hands threads, so thought I'd start one; I grabbed a pack of Four Seam yesterday, and it's really, really nice. Anything brewing (ha) with them that you'd recommend trying?

For me, they are one of the few breweries, in NE where just about anything they have at the time is at a minimum very decent. I have not had a beer from them that I would not order again.

Glad they have started to can. Four Seam is indeed good. I like Proeme Saison a lot and hope they can that soon.I also dig it that they have bottled a couple sours recently. Thing 1, Kill Your Idles Red Berry, and Child of the Sun are all sours I enjoyed.

The new taproom is nice and I've always found a seat. Bottle and draft prices are a little higher than I expected but I find myself going back and hitting up the good beer spots nearby like Mystic Station and Hugh O'Neills. The proximity to the Orange Line is a huge plus.

I'm really enjoying Idle Hands' recently released mixed-culture farmhouse ales - Thing 1 and especially the "harvest grisette" Child of the Sun. Bright, tart, funky and a little spicy. Supposedly they are using some of Enlightenment Brewing's cultures in the mix and it shows.

I haven't tried Adelais in cans yet but it's been a previous favorite of mine on tap and in crowlers.

EDIT: Tip for Enlightenment fans, Atwoods Tavern still has bottles available if you ask nicely. They are starting to show their age but they are priced right.

Hi Everyone -- Thanks for the compliments. We've been working hard on our NE IPA game that started with the Change Up series and helped us narrow down on the Four Seam recipe. We just released Change Up #6 in the tap room yesterday which is more of a throw back and is meant to be a West Coast IPA (pine, grapefruit and bitter)... we wanted to have a little fun with this iteration and show everyone that we can produce non-cloudy IPAs as well.

Our plan is to can roughly once/month. Along with Four Seam, we will also can another one of the beers in our portfolio. Adelais was this month, in April we will can Proeme, May will be Heide and June we are still working out the details on but is shaping up to be Blanche de Grace and Emelyn (along with Four Seam).

Keep on drinking it and we'll keep making it!

    Cheers!
    - Chris

I'm generally not the biggest fan of things labeled saisons/farmhouse ales but I thought the grisette was delicious as well. Your description is spot on.

I plan on trying to make it over for their Oktoberfest on September 16th this year. I was up in Maine for Zwanze Day last year when they had it if I recall correctly.

Picked up Four Seam in Vermont yesterday. Really tasty beer, highly recommend seeking it out if you live in Vermont.

The new batch of Galaxy Four Seam they canned yesterday is completely worth a trip down to Commercial Street.

I thought the first can I opened was maybe a little raw (in fairness, I had it in my nonic so fast it was hardly worth having bothered to put it in a can in the first place) but, by the second can, either my palate had settled down or it just needed to age another forty-five minutes because it was tasting better than just right.

    Kudos @ctkach

Did you find this in cans? I've only had it on tap and would love to bring some home with me

We're sending a limited amount of cans of Galaxy Four Seam & Brocktoberfest up to VT next week. I suspect they'll hit shelves starting Thur 9/7.

Grabbed a couple 4-packs from the Hunger Mountain Co-Op. I doubt it's still on shelves, but looks like we will have some more stuff hitting 9/7!

How is it that these guys are moving into VT but not even coming close to stocking MA. I never understood why breweries did this. Wouldn't it be cheaper to distribute in state and keep up with demand. Julios can never keep these guys in stock and only get a couple cases at a time. Just strange business practice to me.
