    This was last night, [IMG]
but I still recall it fondly.
I could easily have poured a third bottle in this full liter beast.

Not a big thread so far. Maybe because it's not as personal as yesterday when "we" were drinking.

Me? I'm doing something I have been waiting to do for a while, a small vertical of different flavored 18th Street Hunters. It's funny – my first thought on the regular was that it was infected because it had a strong tang. However, after having a few tastes of the other two and going back to it, the tang went away and it seems fine.

Either way, this is a fun experiment and should make mowing the lawn this afternoon fun.

Three different Hunters calls for three different Hunters.

    Cheers all. Happy hunting!

That does look like fun! A vertical, or a brewery horizontal of similar beers? Was there any consensus from the thread on this topic the other day? Cheers!

I don't care what we call the thread, I'm here to drink and hang out with my fellow barflies hoisting one at the virtual bar! There's still a fair amount of coffee in this years and the oak is starting to emerge more. A quality patio beer to kiss the month of August goodbye. I see Friday.....

Yeah, my impression as well. had it on tap 2 nights ago (didn't post, it was so underwhelming) and I thought to myself "This is your Marzen? Really? Meh." Far better ones out there right now...

Could be the graphics. Could be that it's a pint. But for whatever reason...I keep coming back to this 18th Street pale ale. Loving it. Cheers, and happy Thursday! Drink well...

Dang it, Doc, you're right. I guess it is a horizontal and not a vertical. I get my terminology (not to mention my directions) confused when I'm drinking three 8% abv beers at the same time before 11AM.

Other than the voices in my head, I can never speak for a consensus, but I just thought the "We" from yesterday was pretty damn funny, as well as speaking for the communal nature of this virtual bar. It's like having a bartender asking when you walk in "What are we drinking today?"
"I don't know. You tell me!"

Yeah, it wasn't sweet enough and had very little hip character. Very underwhelming.

Damn that car! I had a 74 model in white that I sold around five years ago. It had the optional 400/4 barrel and was a boat that could lay down tracks. I'm suddenly getting nostalgic and missing it.

    Well, it was a thought . . .

    Lichtenhainer Berliner Weissbier

    Score 3.44
    look: 3.5 | aroma: 3.25 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.5

Hazy Canary yellow color with very little cap and no apparent lacing. Nice color though.

Aroma of sour citrus primarily, with detectable smoke in the background.

Taste on entry is citrusy tart and I like that. Sourness is evident but in a balancing way. Then it hits you, smoked bacon. I kid you not, smoked bacon. Now, I've been known to drink a tart wheat ale while eating a BLT so I can't say I don't like the flavor combination, but it's a bit of a jolt to find bacon in the beer. Brewer says this effect is due to smoking the malt over Beechwood, I say whatever, still tastes like bacon. I can say the tart/sour combination is refreshing, and if it weren't for the smoke palate cleansing as well.

Light to medium texture with balancing carbonation.

I didn't know this was a smoked beer when I bought it, just grabbed it because it was fresh, new and the name was unpronounceable. Would I have bought it anyway? Sure, even though I haven't had much luck with smoked beers in the past that's no excuse to pass up something different. I can see why beer was brewed this way in the olden days when malt was dried over smoke producing flames but I really don't think there's room in my fridge for this today.
