Hmmm, I wonder if those might be last year's? Mine have the code L 173 Q on the back, which translates to June 22, 2017 (ignore the first L, it means Lot). If you see a P at the end of the code of the green bottles they are from 2016.

+1. Brown bottled HB here too, not just Oktoberfest, but also the helles & dunkles. But I still see green bottles, which I would pass on now given the new brown bottle format.

So far out of all the ones i've tried:
    1. Sierra Nevada
    2. Erdinger
    3. Hofbrau
    4. Von Trapp
    5. Two Roads
    6. Lancaster
    7. Lakefront

Von Trapp and up are all awesome. I'd drink Two Roads again, Lancaster was meh, and I didn't like lakefront at all

Best Oktoberfest beer I've had out of 7 tried is SurlyFest

Best Oktoberfest is the one held in Germany, from what I've heard

Thus far I've only had Great Lakes and Sam Adams. Great Lakes smoked SA, normally I'm a huge fan of SA but something was off with it, really soapy or overly sweet or something? Not sure
Plan is to get some Ayinger, Weihenstephaner, Paulaner, and Spaten, as these are my go-to's for the season.

Well, that'd be kinda lame. I mean, it didn't taste off in any way that I could tell. I'll have to check the code, thanks for the info!

Right now I'm getting into some Bells Best Brown (it'd be a shame to get burnt out on Oktoberfest so soon:wink:) cheers!

This year I've had Hacker-schorr, Great Lakes, Weihenstephaner, and Ayinger.

Ayinger's was solid but not outstandinoutstanding. Hacker-schorr and Weihenstephaner are my favorites by far. Many still to try, including SN, Left Hand, Erdinger, Braxton.

Last year Paulaner was very tasty. West 6th and Rhinegeist were solid.

    Prost!

I've only tried Sierra Nevada's and Sam Adams this year. Sam's Octoberfest is still my favorite, when it comes to American beers.

I like uintas better than saranac's. They put out a helles too for fall. I don;t care what the logic is because I'll drink both those beers, Sarancs and uintas to excess. =) I really want you to try the uinta. It's one I think might pass muster with you.

Those of you looking for Erdinger, you know that's only Okto by marketing, right? It's really their Weizen with a seasonal label.

I've never never seen a Weisrephaner Fest beer here, I love all they're beers though I'm sure it would be great. I'll be home in mid Oct I'll get some of those great local SE Pa Fest beers.

Not to be a SA slammer but I ordered an SA Oktoberfest draft at dinner the other night and could barely finish it even though it was one of the craft beers that got me started. I used to buy it all the time and enjoy it. A great example of how tastes change and develop over time. And how SA hasn't. Kinda like what happened to Sears.

I have purchased three 6-packs of Oktoberfest so far:

    · Sierra Nevada

    · Weihenstephaner Festbier

    · Von Trapp

I have not tasted them yet. I am waiting for cooler weather to drink these beer. I will report back in a week or two.

The other Oktoberfest on my radar screen is Sly Fox.

    Cheers!

Did a side by side last night with GL Oktoberfest and Sly Fox, both good but Sly Fox won for me. Coming soon will be Fat Head's and maybe something else.

I think today would count! Plus there's football too...you gotta crack one open.

The Sly Fox is fantastic this year, will be in my regular rotation for sure.

I kinda cheated with Sly Fox. I drank a draft Willi Becher glass of this at the brewpub last weekend. I agree that it is a fantastic beer; it always is.

    Cheers!
