Good morning BA, have a great labor day holiday. I'll be working from home while the office is closed today. Have to clean up a vehicle database that got messed up in the last few months. I got most of the more tedious work done on Friday, so I just need to fill in the numbers now and run the reports. Double overtime.

    Beer this morning:

Fantastic IPA! Flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper, and pine hops; with toasted biscuit, light caramel malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish, Medium bodied; moderately crisp and sticky/resinous mouthfeel, with balancing grainy/bready malt creaminess. Increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Refreshingly drinkable. Been buying this a lot more often lately. Bright, dank, and juicy hop complexity; with a nice malt backbone. I love it. I had to revisit my review for this some time ago. I have been appreciating a lot of classic beers much more in the last couple years.

Incredible DIPA. Just as amazing as I remember from the first release. I preferred it more after I aged it for a year, from what I remember. Flavors of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate honey, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, and toasted oak sweetness; and floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/rind bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-full bodied; balanced bready/grainy creaminess, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Slight resins and increasing bitter/tannin dryness. No astringency. Minimal warming 12.4%. Perfectly balanced between DIPA and barrels. Never overly sweet or heavy. They really nailed it with this one. Glad I bought 2-3 4 packs. This will be neat to see develop over time as an IPA. The vanilla/toffee barrel notes and honeyed malt sweetness is already starting to intensify after 4 months.

Mind blowing amazing! Awesome head retention and lacing for the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, molasses, fudge, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, marshmallow cream, biscuit, dark bread, and roasted nuts; with lighter notes of licorice, cherry, raisin, fig, date, coconut, and smoke. Light roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spice on the finish. Super full bodied and light-medium carbonation; very creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel. Slight chalky roast and oak tannins, minimal dryness. Dangerously smooth. Mildly warming 12.8%. No barrel booze in aromas or flavors. This definitely takes the base beer up in complexity, which is still a world class RIS on it's own. Same huge, rich, and complex malt body; with added perfect barrel integration across the board. Also extremely far less bitter, hardly any charcoal/earthy hop notes going on. Way smoother/silky on body. One of the best beers I've ever had.

This year's batch is amazing! Flavors of huge chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, and dark bread; lighter notes of raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, coconut, and licorice. Balancing roasted bitterness and bourbon/oak spice against sweetness on the finish. Very smooth with a creamy/silky full bodied mouthfeel; some light slick/syrupy notes and chalky roast character. The barrel character is enormous. The body is definitely full, but the spicy bourbon/oak character gives a drying note to the finish; which makes the mouthfeel feel thinner than it really is. Very rich, balanced, and complex. Smoother and less boozy than the 2015 batch at a fresher age than I remember. Allocation was insanely limited. I was only able to get 2 bottles. With all other DM variants I was able to get at least 2 4-packs, which is my normal want allotment. This shares some similarities to Bourbon County in the overall flavor profile, but is not quite as thick or heavy.

    Cheers

Morning BA's I've been gone for a good portion of the summer and its been for 2 reasons. The first of which is I've been crazy busy and the second I haven't been trying new beers as often as before. I have been more health concious lately saving beer for the weekends and also splitting extra cash between other hobbies such as home brewed pomades and hair clays. And new clothes.

I appreciate the same things in these as I do micro brews. It's a small mom and pop business out to create a product that works for the people that mass market products don't #withnoproductinihaveajewfro

I started this evening with La Fin Du Monde and will finish with it as I work tonight and must sleep soon! cheers!

One of my all time favorites! You would never know it is pushing 16% or more depending on the year.

This one was the 2016 at 14.6% abv. I also have a 2015 at 17.1% abv. I went with lower abv. It is tasting amazing!
