Thanks! I guess the hopping / dry hopping is something I'll get a better handle on when I finally get up there to try some of their stuff, hopefully this fall. Cheers!

So did they buy their own line or are they using mobile? Using a mobile costs $$$ too and buying a canning line could lead to higher prices out the gate to recoup some of those costs quicker.

They do not use Iron Heart, they have their own line.

At $18 a 4-pack I won't be getting it to often, it just isn't consistent pricing with other local beers that are same quality. Had to get the first built to spill release though! Great stuff.

was able to stop in on Sunday and tried pavement and the wild ale they had. Pavement was fantastic and I really liked the wild ale. Took a growler of Rated R home so I will crack that this weekend. These guys are definitely doing it right

I was up at Foam brewery this last weekend and was pretty impressed with their beers and tap room. I picked up a 4 pack of Built to Spill and it didn't even phase me regarding the cost since I'm used to MA prices. $28.50 for 2 beers and a 4 pack to go isn't expensive if you are used to places like Trillium.

Interesting to see all the comments from people more used to the area. I bought beer from a few other breweries while I was up there as well as from the Growler Garage and did notice that most of it was quite a bit cheaper. Foam certainly has the location to push the price envelope but hopefully that doesn't start trickling down to other breweries. Foam was good but in the same league as Burlington Beer Company (I'd probably give the nod to BBC and the food at BBC was awesome). I'd take a Hill Farmstead any day over either brewery to be honest but there's certainly no lack of competition. I'm hoping the ever increasing amount of good beer will start to normalize costs around craft beer but not sure it ever will.

Frost is about to start canning. It will be interesting to see what their prices look like.

I bet they're in line with Upper Pass. $13-$16 depending on abv.

Hope they eventually make it to MA. I've still yet to try Lush but heard good things

Will this be the norm? No currently on tap IPA/DIPAS but they're doing can releases of them? Not sure I can make this place a priority anymore (either in recommendation form or going there when I'm out there once-twice a year) . The money made on cans must be pushing them into a production brewery ten fold.

    Thoughts.

It's a Holiday weekend and they got slammed. They had a ton of stuff that kicked on Thursday-Friday. I stopped in yesterday and it was buried. Had a quick beer and skipped out. If you come up on a Holiday weekend next time, make it a priority to find somewhere else that flies under the radar.

They did a can release Monday too over Labor Day Weekend. Grabbed the last four-pack of Pavement around 10:30. Brought three growlers to fill up, but wasn't interested in the three/four beers that were left.

I did have Built to Spill, Rated R, Experimental Jet Set and Goldtone on tap earlier in the weekend (Fri/Sat) and all were really good, but BtS/EJS were standouts. Awesome spot too, and the BBQ pop up was delicious too.

I like Pavement and Built to Spill, but 18 dollars a 4pk is no bueno. I can't justify it when I can get 2nd fiddle and Alchemist beers for dollars less. That's not even mentioning 14th star, Frost, and Foley Bros. I can understand going and hanging out there and paying those prices, but no way am I paying for atmosphere when I buy cans.

I'll pay the $18 but I'm not waiting in the line.

What time do cans sell out these days? I'll be up in Burlington next friday arriving around 12 and was planning on going to foam anyway but can make it the first stop if cans are around.

I've gone at 1:30 the past two Fridays and there have been cans still left. I think they have been selling out soon after that

I can totally understand this but I don't find any of those beers to be similar. Second Fiddle has been not been anywhere near as good since the expansion in my opinion and Alchemist stuff is just very different than what Foam is doing (not better or worse, just different). I am willing to pay the extra few bucks for a 4-pack now and then, but I have not had to stand in line either.

This. I'm wondering about people's palates if they're comparing The Alchemist and Foam as if they're similar.

True both Second Fiddle (haven't noticed a difference post expansion) and Alchemist beers are different than Foams. For myself I derive just as must pleasure from those beers or those made by Frost, 14th star, or Foley Bros. and at a far better price point. I can only speak for my own tastes. I've been to Trillium and Treehouse before as well. Those beers are also priced higher than I would routinely purchase. In order to justify those prices the beer would have to be far superior to the other options. I just don't find Foam's beer to be on a Hill Farmstead/ Trillium/ Treehouse level where I'll shell out that much. There are just too many other good options in this state for me to feel necessary to shell out 18 dollars for 64 ounces of beer. YMMV though.
