An Unorthodox American Breakfast

The mild sweetness of the semi hard cheese is what makes this breakfast compliment the marzen style beer. This is corn, gouda, and fresh parsley on homemade bread. Cheers!

The Feb 2018 on the cap is obviously a Best By Date which would suggest ~6 months from packaging...and still tasting lovely. Although I yet to have Dulle Teve fresh, Boskeun is my favorite with Arabier (on draught, at the source) ranking in a close second. I will have some fresh 'The Mad Bitch' before I leave so I can give my final score...but that is still a few days away.

My first am post in a while and it feels good! Could that be the beer talking?

Very interesting beer. Worth a try anyway. I can't find my picture from two years ago where I did a side by side of this beer and Leinenkugel's Uber-Oktoberfest. Atom Smasher was the winner that day. Enjoy what's in your mug today BA!

This is good, no, let me rephrase that, this is quite good for what it is. It isn't a German Bock, it's a variation of AAL, and has met with wide acceptance because people like the flavor. Attractive brownish redish color, malt/hops appear in enough volume to be heard, texture is thinner than Euro styles but still medium, taste leaves a sense of sweetness without actually being sweet. Remarkably consistent, I get the impression this beer was designed to compete with the Vienna style lagers from South of the River. As a crossover from AALs this one performs admirably and the lack of roasted malt bitterness makes it an easy drinker. Works well with food, most any occasion, most any company.

 

Good morning from the cool and now sunny southern shore! I've been pleased with the IPA's I've had from Windmill so I decided to try something from the dark side. It looked promising and smelled phenomenal when I opened the can. It all went downhill from there. It tastes like cold coffee. The feel is super thin and flat. Too much cold brew coffee and not enough porter in my opinion. It reminds me of one of those canned or bottled coffees that some breweries sell. While not terrible, it leaves me disappointed. It may have worked better using a stout?
