To help find their beer, outside their brewery (they have their own tap room, where you can buy, drink, and fill growlers), use the following link:

    http://cartonbrewing.com/find-our-beer/

    More info from their website

    http://cartonbrewing.com/

Tasting room availability is posted on Facebook on Wednesday and Saturday before the sessions begin.

Special releases: When there are new cans we set up a table downstairs for efficiency, but outside of those first couple days they are upstairs in the tap room, which is staffed by really nice people.

How to get to Carton (The BOAT STORY)

    The boat from the city:
On weekdays the Atlantic Highlands stop on Seastreak ferry is 5 blocks straight down 1st Ave (.4 miles 8 minutes walk on Google maps)

On weekends there is a shuttle waiting at the Connors Highlands stop on the ferry that will run you over to the Atlantic Highlands stop (if you are nice to the driver they very well may drop you at Carton as you pass)

OR you can take the ferry to Connors Highlands, walk down Shore Drive to Kranky Cyclesand rent a bike (.3 miles-6minute walk on Google maps) and rent a bike. They have motorized and regular cruisers which can be peddled down the Henry Hudson bike path to Carton (2.9 miles 15 minute peddle according to Google maps) as well as out Sandy Hook for some beach time with stops at any of our local seafood shacks along the way.

    * The Henry Hudson bicycle path between Highlands and Atlantic Highlands is currently under construction, and might be finished in early Fall. While you could definitely still rent a bike and go down Route 36, it's a very large hill, and not scenic like the ride along the water.

If you ever wondered Cartons MO regarding the trendy IIPA . . Clearly they choose not to pump them out for quick cash given how effortlessly they can make a beer like Hief better than just about everything in the state.

Can't tell you how happy I was to see Cosmo on tap. BIL wanted to try a really good stout and there it was. Got him a bottle of the Shipwreck Porter too.

100% this. Hief is fantastic. If they started putting out different DDH  versions of this every other week, they'd soon have a line out the door. Thank god they remain true to their vision of brewing more interesting things on the regular and let the rest of the breweries worry about how many POS iPads they need in order to manage the line.

There are still cans of S. S. Hief and 07750 for those of you that are fans of great beer.

This isn't really newsworthy, but I'm still incredibly in awe of the fact that, in this craft beer climate, I can go to the store and buy 4-packs of days old 077XX and Boat for $12 and $10, respectively. Like, how amazing is that?

I get the same feeling when I go to a small Italian restaurant in Princeton with 5 taps and one of them is Kane Sneakbox.

We've had our dark days as craft beer fans in NJ, but these are pretty fun times.

Boat's price is the best deal in local beer, bar none.

Agreed, entirely. When you see Boat at $9.50 and something like Singlecut 18-Watt at $18 next to one another, it's insane. That's not even a knock on Singlecut; they make good beer. It's just a testament to the remarkable value that Carton provides the customer.

Agreed. Pints of Boat are $5 at my local spot. Makes it difficult to order anything else.

I tried milk 4 yrs ago when I was a newbie to the crest brew scene. Hated it. Can someone please explain its allure. I am all about different styles and I am not crazy about the fact that all breweries are now doing pretty much only some variation of an IPA or double IPA now, but I really just do not understand the concept of a session milk stout. What's to love about it
