I refuse to leave the 'virtual bar' without a couple of my favorites...those who recognize my avatar won't be surprised but I just get excited getting beer like this, so...damn...fresh!

Like Dulle Teve, I will never get Duvel this fresh...and am preparing myself for the weeping session ahead.

 

Anyone else finding this years Sam Adams Oktoberfest extremely sweet? Just had one, I'm not saying it was diabetes in a glass, but damn I found it overly sweet.

The inventory reduction begins...this 5/5/17 bottle is from our "wine" 'fridge and poured immediately and drinking at 56 degrees:



Chocolate vanilla cinnamon and dark fruit nose. Hot peppers chocolate cinnamon vanilla and cherries. No hint of alcohol. Cocoa powdery medium full body w/ smooth rich feeling. The hot pepper sauce is less intense and all the other flavors mentioned above coalesce beautifully. Warmth in the mouth/sinuses, but not boozy. Dare I posit that this gem is what Xocoveza hopes to become some day?? Cheers dudes and dudettes!

My ratings agree with you, but not by much. 4.62 for Cake and 4.5 for Xocoveza. I'm an easy sucker for that style!

La Trappe Quadruple. From a ‘vintage’ 50 cents glass I found earlier this week in a thrift shop. Probably from 60’s or 70’s I think.
Technically speaking not the most wonderful glass for a beer like this. Wide royal glasses for beer were a bit strange around here in those days probably.

I like them both, too! And Xocoveza is so much easier to track down; the Cake still takes some work...Cheers brother!

 

These beers keep for years and even tend to get better over time. Things can go wrong when a bottle is on a shelve in full sunlight for some time.

So I am drinking a Stoneface IPA at a bar called the Looney Bin. I dropped my daughter at dance for an hour and realized I was 5 minutes from the best beer bar inside of a 30 minutes and arrive to realize they don't open until 5pm. So the back up across the street that serves all beer in plastic cups apparently. Still tastes great.

 

Nice! I realy love Palm now and then. Going after a large bottle of Palm tomorrow
Somehow Palm beer from the larger bottles is much better compared to cans or small bottles.
