2018 Beer Club Renewals

Keeping Casa Agria and Bruery Reserve.

Planned on dropping Bruery but a BA vanilla stout, BA coconut stout and brunch variant Black Tuesday convinced me to go for another year.

I would join any membership that does good BA stouts only and doesn't mix in sours but I don't know of one.

 

Secondary or tertiary "dibs" on any extra Anniversary Party tickets you've got for next year.

Is there a waitlist/sign-up for that, or are you just hoping that they announce something and can get on it?

On the bright side, at least you could sign up, I tried a few years ago and they said they weren't taking any additional waitlisters. Maybe with their expansion they'll open it up.

hoping they announce it. They originally mentioned it would be a go for Feb. this year, but that didn't quite happen obviously. So still hopeful.

I dunno, the fact that I am on the list for this long is pretty much a ****-tease. I almost rather not be on it then sitting here patiently, twiddling my thumbs around renewal time. Ah well, still hasn't been difficult to get their beers and some very nice cellar members have shared their beers with me in the past. I then, of course, beer-it-forward to other friends. Cracked a nonna's 5 - 10 vert for shits and giggles one evening. That was fun.

 

Doesn't make much sense, the price difference is only like 40 bucks to just keep RS.

 

But you pay it in quarterly increments and can drop out each quarter.

While I 'm very satisfied with RS, going into my fourth year, with 1 year as PS, I could see the downgrade making sense for some people, especially with the increase in PS benefits. Truth is the distinction between the societies has become grayer over the years.

Edit: Just tried the League Exclusive Jamaican Rum Devil's Teeth Turkish Coffee (Cardamom, coffee, vanilla) and was blown away. Goddamn in MT...with the DTLA location no way I can't renew...right?...right? It's been so hit or miss. I just don't know.

 

We including the free memberships because you buy so much?

Only problem is most of the beer for PS quarterly aren't hard to get, and the extra $40 would get you far better/harder to obtain bottles in RS.

It's also done quarterly and if I don't like the quarter I can dump it. Honestly, of the beers included in RS, the only ones I am really excited for are the 3 Black Tuesday variants and that is not enough to renew. The rest sound good, but if I miss them, I would be ok with that. Also, the spirit aged 10 whatever's sounds awful, as I am not a fan of rum, gin, tequila aged beers, which I assume that will be.

 

For some people, "hard to get" isn't a motivator, I know it isn't for me.

And for some people getting a handful of very good beers from The Bruery every quarter is enough. I think PS is a good program for people in this camp.
