    Good morning BA
My first of these for the season. Delicious!

I just dropped my 13 year old daughter and wife off at the school for a 5 day 8th grade trip to our nation's capital. It's going to be quiet here with only my son and myself home. Enjoy your Saturday BA!

My golf game was fogged out (one of the disadvantages of living on the coast), so I might as well start big.

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Not much going on today. Going to keg the Sierra Nevada American stout clone I brewed 2 weeks ago. Pulled my first pint of the Irish Red I brewed 3 weeks ago last night, and it tasted awesome. First time I have brewed with liquid malt extract in 6 years, and the quality is just as good as I have done with all grain before. Temperature control and sanitation are always the most important factors.

    Beer this morning:

Revisiting this review after 5 years, haven't had it in the same amount of time. This was really nice! Better than I remember. Aromas and flavors of big lemon, orange, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape, citrus peel, peppercorn, clove, and light banana/bubblegum yeast; with wheat, cracker, biscuit, white bread dough malts; hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery yeast spiciness; light citrus peel bitterness, and slight tart/tangy wheat/yeast on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; balanced bready/grainy wheat creaminess and yeast/spice stickiness in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/spicy dryness. Very smooth, mildly increasing warmth of 9.3%. This is really well done for such a big ABV saison. Really great rustic feeling yeast character complexity, with balanced spices and malt sweetness. Never cloying with adequate dryness. Would check out again. Got a few other Vivant beers I need to revisit. 3.9

Have not had this in a bit. Didn't buy any last year, not sure why. Fantastic Russian Imperial stout! Flavors of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, toasted dark bread, smoke, charcoal, and licorice; with moderate herbal, leather, tobacco, and piney earthy hop notes. Bit of cherry/dark fruit notes. Moderate roast/char and herbal/pine hop bitterness on the finish. Fairly full bodied; balanced bready malt creaminess, hop stickiness, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/char dryness; never acrid or astringent. Very smooth, minimal warming ABV. I revisited this review in 2015 with a 2.5 YO bottle. This is prime time after 2 years; but as it stands right now, still a pristine example of the style. Need to keep this one around for sure. Especially to age.

Amazing as always. Flavors of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pepper/pine hops; with wheat, white bread dough, light honey malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, grassy, citrus peel bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus bodied; balanced bready/grainy creaminess and hop stickiness in the mouthfeel. Light resins/rinds and increasing dryness, no hop astringency. Super dank and juicy hops, with great malt balance. Never overly sweet or heavy. Glad to have this as a year round available beer. I prefer Boxer a little more, but has not hit the shelf in a few months. This and the Odd Side Dank juice series have been keeping me company since then, so it's not a huge loss. The Michigan NE IPA train is on the high road now. So many easily available options. What a time to be alive. Still need to review the Roak one.

Incredible as always, one of my favorite smoked beers of all time. Just got this off the shelf last week. Flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, wood smoke, toasted dark bread, caramel, and light toffee/coffee/charcoal; with some herbal/spicy hops, and a touch of yeasty dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced roast/spicy hop finish. Medium bodied; balanced bready creaminess, hop stickiness, and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing bitter/roasted dryness. Absolutely amazing stuff. Tons of dark/roasted malt complexity with a great presence of smoked malts. Almost meaty feeling. Love it every time.

Back from long walk with dogs through the neighborhood and park. Looks like everyone has power up, and the yard debris cleaning is underway. Starting my day out right with my favorite coffee:

Thank you. It's an absolutely incredible beer. Unfortunately I haven't had it fresh in a long time, so I don't know how it compares, but I would cellar this long term with no worries.
