Just say the magic words and you'll get plenty of offers. I'll give you a hint. They start with a "T" and end with a "ree House"

I don't think you'd even need that . . . OH, Grimm, ANTEAD might do it. I'd definitely do it for the right OH. Or Aslin.

I havent gotten an email yet about the release this weekend for the levelup members. Do we have the opportunity to buy both picture it and the spice must flow?

The email went out on Monday. Yes, you do.

Sure do! Level Up emails are always sent out the Monday before a sale -- cruise through your junk and/or promotional folders as group mailings with "sale" mentions frequently get sifted into the abyss. If your system empties those folders, shoot an email over to [email protected] for help!

Seems odd the vanilla & coffee variant lasted longer despite the presumably lower bottle count. Perhaps the back to back sales approach is the cause? Either way, happy to get a chance to try a pumpkin beer I might actually enjoy!

Did anyone make it out to bottle logic to try that ba wee heavy they have on tap?

I did. I thought it was great. Very similar to Byzantine Vision though in that the nuttiness was very prominent. But I would definitely recommend trying it. It's a wee heavy so unless they filled one keg, it should be around a while.

I went yesterday and it was worth the trip.

Kane Mexican Brunch, a ticketed event, was just fully refunded by Kane and everyone was allowed to keep the bottles they purchased because the quality control wasn't perfect.

This makes me irritated as I picked up BV when I went out to BL this winter to visit and they made me jump through hoops being out of state and send multiple photos to prove I had broken my beer to pieces in order to get a refund. I had suggested via email that they just refund everybody and they dismissed that idea altogether.

I hope they could take a page from Kane's book on customer service.

Was this beer sold entirely using an online ticketing service?

Apparently you haven't been around long enough to get the full experience from BL. Even though every method isn't going to satisfy every customer 100%, Lindsay has made so many changes in the past to better assist the majoritty, it's insane. If anything, many breweries can take note on everything BL is doing correctly.

Also, why would anyone want to drink a beer which has developed off flavors or is infected?

I don't know if you read what I wrote or not.

I visited BL from out of state, and when I heard about the refund for the infected beers, my first reaction was why not just refund all ticket holders or anyone with a receipt that bought it at a store?

I emailed and asked why not just refund everyone, and that wasn't even considered. I had to send in photographs of my beer bottles smashed to pieces before I could have my out of state refund processed.

I just didn't think it was a friendly approach. I would've just refunded all ticket holders that got a crappy beer and refunded anyone else that bought it and presented a receipt, and made JTR for sale, not a swap.

For Kane in particular...infection and off-flavors wasn't the reason. It failed QC based on their tests that some of the spice particulates that were used made it into the bottle and thus were doing science with the CO2. No off-flavors, no infections....just a reaction.

Translation: a few bottles had slightly more carbonation than Kane intended.

I have to say, Kane absolutely went an insane degree out of their way to make good to purchasers who weren't even asking for recompense, for a beer that is not only drinkable, but still phenomenally so.

Whereas other breweries, in the case of actually infected, disgusting beers, either make you jump through an endless array of hoops or downright don't even acknowledge a problem.

It's certainly undeniable that Kane went above and beyond what almost any other brewery would do, from the sound of this. I don't think that shitting on Bottle Logic's response is really necessary, however. The logistics of most Bottle Logic releases favor people who are local to the brewery (local being within a couple hours drive, tops). They provided a refund option and a bottle swap option that spanned over the course of 2 months to get whichever resolution you wanted.
I would guess that almost everyone who ended up with bad bottles found a happy resolution. Obviously there will be outliers, like people from New York who ended up in what would have been the right place at the right time to get bottles of a CA limited release beer. Why did you have to show a smashed bottle, considering all of the initial refund/bottle swap literature clearly stated "intact" bottle?

I sent a photo of the three bottles on the counter opened, and they wrote back and asked if I could send a photo of them destroyed.

I actually drank a bottle and disposed of the bottle before I knew about any type of infection or recall. Being from the East coast I was not aware at all.

If i would have known i would have kept an empty bottle and send it for a refund, but again.. this happens with beer

That seems odd, but I could see that so that you wouldn't get a refund and then give your empties to a friend so that they could get a refund, etc..etc...

Out-of-state does make things really difficult when issues like this arise. Alesmith is going through one as well with their RumSkull and initially they had a deadline, and basically out-of-state ppl were SOL, but deadline got removed after a couple days and the out-of-state ppl just need to email in.

I think with the BottleLogic BV issue/return is that some were sent out to their accounts for a very limited distribution. Whereas I think both Kane and Alesmith was 100% online. So checking names to make sure ppl weren't trying to game the system was a lot easier. Someone, like myself, could have gone dumpster diving to find bottles of BV and basically gotten refunds or beer for bottles that I never spent a dime on.

Different situations call for different actions. I don't think there will ever be one that is perfect.
