    Hey BA,

    Going to be in Charleston for a wedding this weekend and have Friday all to myself. Would like to hit a couple breweries and try some of the local libations. Lay your suggestions on me.

    Thanks!

    They are seriously making the best beer in charleston right now and are very close to downtown. I would check out Edmunds Oast too especially for bottles. Westbrook is nice and occasionally has some good stuff on tap

    I second all of this. Most especially CTF if hops are your thing. They are having an all hoppy beer event Saturday with some great southeast breweries on tap if you get time.

    Revelry offers a great rooftop. Edmund's Oast just opened their production brewery last Saturday (maybe a mile away from the brewpub) and their bottle shop a month ago, maybe (beside the brewpub). Revelry and all of Edmund's places are pretty close to each other.

    You can buy some great on site bottles at Westbrook if you feel like dropping some coin. Lots of other great options as well around town depending on what are you will be in. Hers a link to a prior thread with some good suggestions.

    This pretty much sums up my experience with my trip there in May. I'll be there Sunday for a few hours myself.

    I might even skip westbrook if your not interested in having the rare expensive mexican cake. The tap room is pretty bland and most everything they have can be found around town with the exception of the BA mexican cake stuff.

    Charles Towne Fermentory then Edmunds Oast/exchange for beer, food and bottle shopping. The EO brewery only has 3 beers on tap right now.

    Will also throw in Craftsman (downtown) for a beer bar. Excellent and killer bottle list as well as some nice treats on tap. Craft Conundrum also a good beer bar.

    Holy City Brewing
    Revelry Brewing
    2 Blokes Brewing
    SNAFU Brewing (former head brewer at Westbrook)

    Palmetto Brewing

    Beer Bars to visit;
    House of Brews
    Edmunds Oast Restaurant
    The Barrel
    Closed 4 Business
    Craft Conundrum (over 100+ taps, mostly good stuff)
    Craftsman Kitchen
    The Brew Cellar
    Coleman Public House

    Beer stores to visit;
    House of Brews
    Bottles
    The Brew Cellar
    Edmunds Oast Exchange (you will find stuff here you won't anywhere else)

    It opened and then closed a few months later. Apparently, the building has "structural issues", so they decided to close shop.

    I also never understood how a supposed brewpub in the heart of downtown could only be open until 9pm?

    My guess is they didn't really want to be there, after they had to start paying rent. $$$$$
