I like their bottled stuff but it all begins to taste a little samey. How is the Emptiness series different?

A lot of the new bottles of fruit ....Undertow comes to mind, that had blueberries. Sat on the shelf for a long time if it's not still there.

It really just is the history of the Emptiness series imo. It's been a while since I have had one and I would be curious to have a variant now after having so many other sours/fruited sours. If it had been named Peach Beer then it would have sat on the shelf, although stone fruit sours tend to be more popular in general I think. Also that abv is very unique to that style too, really curious how it turned out.

if memory serves correct emptiness yeast was the "speacial" yeast from the cafe... when the ferm opened they then had a ferm specific yeast culture... maybe "unknown" or something.. though it was around the freedom from the known on tap when they maybe mentioned it.. would have to peruse through tons of instagram shit to figure it out... but yeah, emptiness yeast i believe is the cafe strain... not sure if that helps answer what makes it different and yeah at this point i don't know if there are any differences since the dispensary houses all this stuff... pre dispensary there may have been more of a difference in the cafe vs ferm saison/oak offerings etc...

As I remember it, the Emptiness strain is a specific culture that was originally propped up at the Café but has made it into many beers since, mostly being "Emptiness series" beers. Also, these beers almost always experience some sort of secondary fermentation on fruit. The "Ferm strain," if you could call it such a thing, is basically the sort of "mother yeast" that made its way through most barrels at the café. At least this is how it tastes to me and how I understand it to exist.

The fact that all saisons out of the Ferm are fermenting in oak makes a huge difference in the whole program compared to when it was just the café. Basically every draft saison out of the Ferm is in the realm of something that would have come out of a smaller format barrel at the café and likely released in a bottle instead of on draft. I guess the point is there is nothing "new" about the "Ferm yeast" strain just that we get it all the time now.

In case anyone was wondering, Through the Emptiness is really good.

So, what's with the 12.5% on Through the Emptiness? Are they expanding the series to include fruited and funky barleywines?

Gonna mess up the "drop your chair during lunch break" plan, so it sounds like we'll have less empty chairs to wait behind this week. If this is enforced, it's progress towards sanity.

Seems like it should be a chill release.

Infinite Energy was not that long ago and people didn't go insane for it.

The Half Acre pale ale collab is not super hazy from what I recall.

The honey DIPA has no fruit in it and seems like it'll be "typical TH."

And last week was shake madness.

Yeah would like a surprise like last week where I was able to pick up Fog Connoisseur over a day later than release. Wouldn't mind stocking up on all three of these actually.

I'm really curious to see how tomorrow plays out. The instagram post doesn't mention chairs. Have to wonder if they are doing away with them.

Can someone inform me of a typical release? Like how early to line up, how big the line is, and how long cans last (do they last a few days?).

I have done LIC, OH plenty. No idea how these compare though. Any help is much appreciated

So pretty much anything other than a Milkshake release it's a fairly easy process. TH starts selling at 5pm (weekdays) and people used to start lining up chairs at 12:00. Now it seems like (maybe) chairs will not be allowed to be placed in line unitl 2:00 (we'll see how that works). So on a normal release, you can pretty much walk up anytime after 6:00 and get beer with little to no line wait. Sometimes they sell out that night, sometimes beer lasts until the next day. Most times beer is sold out the next day if it's anything people want.

Now if it's a Milkshake release, all bets are off. Those releases are getting harder and harder to get beer because of all the mules and traders in line. It seems lately that if you are not in line by 4 or 4:30, and stand in line for almost 2 hours, you are not getting beer......or do like many people do and take the day off, place your chair early and go do your other business for a few hours, then come back. Milkshake releases have been just a total cluster f*** lately with the line, lots and lots of mules and line butt-er in-ers, I hate them. If the beer wasn't so damn good...................

Any update on the chair situation? Did they enforce no chairs before 2pm?

New beers, (relatively) reasonable prices, no line whatsoever... so much better than the Shake headache.

Yeah you won't find a line anymore at TH if a milkshake isn't being released... smh.
