New beer is a very fresh Crowler of Founders Red Rye , agsin my thanks to Ozzy for the beer.

I decided to break out my HF balloon glass which I rarely use because I tend to break stuff. Ok to the beer, even with a vigorous pour a very light head, the nose is muted a bit perhaps I chilled it too much, but I like cold beer. I love the color it look very similar to Gordon's from Oskar Blues. I love Rye , it's a sharp hit and it works perfectly with this beer, very nicely bitter from start to finish. Very nice beer I don't rate much but I'd say maybe a 4.25 to 4.3 kinda beer based on taste. Drinks almost like an IPA, but not quite there. Nice lingering finish too, very pleasant. I also like Rye whiskey for the same reasons it works well in beer, a nice punch instead of barley.

Let me add as it warms a bit the 2nd pour was a nice creamy head so chalk that up to the ultra chilling, still no nose though.

A- A nice light yellow color with a no head and lacing.

S- A very pleasant lemongrass scent.

T- The taste follows the smell, decent carbonation, and a nice character.

M- A light sour taste and an enjoyable beer.

    O- A decent beer.

The very same words may have appeared in my review (a combination of the two): like a Jolly Rancher, but just shy of becoming too sweet.

Next up, the newest TH milkshake. Thanks so much for this @larryi86 !

Tired Hands - Tangerine Dream Milkshake IPA
    Canned 9/13/17 (11 days ago)
    Score: 4.03 (-5.8% rDev)

L - gentle pour results in a massive, white fizzy head. Body is dark yellow.

    S - tangerine, vanilla, sugar.

T - massive burst of sweetness and vanilla at first, followed by the tangerines. There's a nice sugar-biscuit taste at the end that makes you immediately want another sip.

F - highly carbed, medium body.

O - definitely one of the better milkshakes from Tired Hands. It's still too sweet for my liking, but this one has enough going on besides the sweetness to make it worth seeking out.

Ok, as the 1pm NFL games kick off, I have a couple of beers which I believe completes the gifts from @Wasatch.

The first one I saw @Buck89 had about a month ago. I think we got most of the same notes, though I got a little bit of lemon in the hop notes. I also felt this one was leaning a bit more towards a regular IPA.

River Runners is listed as a pale ale and has a pale yellow, hazy look with a nice white sustaining head. The nose, as mentioned, has a lemon and lightly herbal aspect to it. The taste starts with dry bread before allowing a more grapefruit pith (with a hint of lemon) bitterness to take hold. An herbal to piney ending doesn't get too strong, and I agree with @Buck89 that a little bit of the malt joins back in there.

Epic Day is a DIPA that actually came across to me as more of an APA than River Runners. It has a bigger body and is more smooth than the APA reviewed above. It was sweeter than I expected, and didn't seem to show the grass and pine I got in the nose very much. Honey bread and stone fruits were what my palate detected, oddly enough. A little dry grass bitterness came out slowly. A perhaps too balanced DIPA, but still an enjoyable drink.

I will say this worked out well, as the GF liked Epic Day better, and I rather enjoyed River Runners, so we each got a little more of the one we preferred.

Another new beer for me, NBS...
Other Half's honey cream IPA (*new style category called for!* lol), Cream Get The Honey... 6% abv, no canning date... Features Mosaic hops, oats, and New York honey... Medium-pale gold and expectedly opaque (do they make any beers that aren't?)... Smooth, mellow, and citrusy with honeyed accents... Some floral and orchard fruit impressions - very tasty actually, with moderate carbonation and sweetness, and just a twang of tartness... Tasty, tangy, sweet and fruity...

One more new beer left in the fridge...

    Cheers...

Now up Burley Oak Strawberry Daiquiri JREAM, thanks @CanConPhilly for this. I really like was Burley Oak has been doing in the last few months and love the JREAM series. This is one of the lowest rated I’ve had so far, I feel like others have been fruitier, still really like it.

My first try at Pepe Nero was just a few months ago, and it was a 5 year old bottle. I was really impressed with how well it had held up. I normally like to try new beers fresh first, and then see how they develop with time (if appropriate), but I don't feel it hurt that beer at all. Solid offering.

L-The beer pours clear and golden with a 3 finger bone white head. Lacing is minimal as the head recedes to a thin film.
S-Nose is toasted bread and some hop spiciness.
T-Taste is like the nose with hops perfectly balancing out the malt.
F- Light on the palate and perfectly dry on the finish. Carbonation is on the lighter side of medium.
O- This is a fantastic Oktoberfest. A standard setter as far as I'm concerned.

I agree, I would like to try a bottle of this fresh but seeing that this is the only time I have seen it I am not sure that will happen.

Now a beer that is fitting for the hot and humid weather. Funk Factory White Lodge Gueuze.

Pours a darker shade of gold with a soft white 2 finger head. Fades into thick cap with minimal lacing. Looks enchanting. Starts off with a tart and musty aroma. Fresh lemon juice, green plum, and sour grapes. Funk is light and there is a slight woody character. Huge bright tartness that is bordering on sour. Lemons. green plum, and sour grapes. I detect faint funk and some oak and must. Light crisp finish without the overbearing sourness. Carbonation is perfect and the finish is slightly dry. Pretty tasty Gueuze style that I hope is made again by FF.

Unseasonably warm summer temps have struck the Midwest. We closed the pool 3 weeks ago when fall arrived but now the kids have to settle for a sprinkler in the backyard. Oh well. On to the beer!

This beer comes courtesy of @smanson56 as part of NBS BIF #6, Launch Beer from Trillium. Thanks man!

Pours a color that I can only describe as deep, muddled peach nectar, with pink highlights. Slightly off white 1 finger head. The nose is peach and apricot, pine and citrus. First sip reveals just a second of sweet that leads to white grapefruit and lemon pith, floral notes and finishes with a crispness and a huge bitterness, especially for a pale ale. This beer is refreshing and interesting. A pleasure to drink. 4.45

Hi there guys and gals! Just trying to enjoy my afternoon with some football and new beers. Had to leave for FL last minute Friday, so I'm currently posted up at my mothers apt. Been a while since I've posted here, mostly because I have a tendency to, simply put, just be short. Participating in a NBS BIF so I figured I could start back up this week with some beers that don't hit my distro back home. Picked up a mixed 6'er of randoms. Here is the first.

    Fogcutter by Lost Coast
    Double IPA 8.7%. 80IBUs

The bottle date on this says 7/14/17 so currently about 10 weeks old. Should be a perfectly acceptable sample of what this beer has to offer. The logo says it's part of the "graveyard series".

The pour comes out a light orange. Almost perfectly clear with a tiny bit of dirty-white foam that falls to a paper thin coating. Almost a rye bread nose, pencil shavings, white grapefruit zest. The taste is slightly astringent with sweet malt and bitter, piney hops all hitting up front with a lingering presence on the tip and the very back of my tongue. It really reminds me of some of my first experiences with DIPAs. My mother described it as fingernail polish remover. I think it's a fair example of the style.

I've been holding off on the BIG box courtesy of @JBowenGeorgia (as we're not yet at the official reveal date, right?). However .... :flushed: these hops aren't going to get any younger, right? :sunglasses:

    Scofflaw Basement IPA

Super juicy IPA. At 7.5% and loaded with hops, this is right on the edge of a DIPA, but it's super drinkable. Peaches and passionfruit come to mind immediately; pine and resin follow. Really enjoyable brew I'd be happy to find on tap.

It has been too long since I last posted here. Our dear friend that is battling cancer is in remission at this time so we are more than thankful for that. They were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary last week with a lot better outlook than a few months ago.
It is another wonderful day here in central NH with the temperature in the high 80's and except for the fact that I had to dig that huge hole in the front yard for the bi-annual pumping of the septic tank today it has been a good day.
And of course the semi annual NBS BIF is in full swing and once again I am enjoying being a participant that brings me to me new beer for this Sunday. This beer come all the way from Hawaii thanks to the generosity of @y2kawakami. It is BeerLab Hawaii Ko'olauloa NE IPA.
As you can see from the picture this is your typical hazy NE style IPA. And I will add a very well done one at that.
This beer poured a hazy golden orange color into my tulip glass.
The nose is tropical ( what else would you expect from Hawaii) with lots of fruit perhaps some papaya and mango here.
The taste is a tropical delight as a NE IPA is supposed to be with the mango and papaya coming through.
The mouth feel is smooth and enjoyable.
Coming from 5000 miles from NE this beer has found the NE style IPA and made a great one in my opinion. Better than some of the local breweries are doing.
I've been away from NBS for too long IMO so I'm going to get back in the habit of sharing a NB here each week as U had done in the past.
    Cheers!

Happy New Wet hopped beer Sunday BAs!

Today's brew is Magnify Dew 7% abv canned 9/23

    Brewer's Notes:
Dew is a new 7% wet hop IPA. Wet hops are freshly picked flowers from the hop vine that contain all the aromatic oils that we strive to put in our beer. The green wet hops impart a grassy and earthy flavor that make these once-a-year beers a distinct drinking experience. Dew is whirlpooled with Simcoe and Cascade wet hops and dry hopped with Citra wet hops and Simcoe and Centennial hop pellets.

    My Notes:
First wet hop beer of the season for me! And a great one at that. Notes of pine lemon grass, herbal tea, and most certainly has an earithness to it. Taste follow the nose with a tad more sweetness of malt than expected on the nose. Balance is great but still learning toward the pine side of things. Body is creamy and smooth. Well done beer.

    Cheers!

The aroma had a bright sweet to sour lemon to lime sort of meshing following through with some driftwood/oak barrel, light pine, white pear, lemongrass, and then the herbal to floral qualities of the yarrow but also seemed to pull in a little bit of heather and flowing on into the mix of things.
The flavor was moderately sweet and pulled in a gentle sour with a fair herbal sweetness. All came together in the aftertaste which was even less sour and more herbal.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt somewhat low, but came off good to me. Was it the yarrow mellowing how the carbonation was felt? Not sure. But it felt great along my tongue with no pucker whatsoever. Nothing cloying either.
Overall, really nice oak barrel aged saison coming across like an American Wild ale. Would definitely love to have again.

Good Sunday NBS crew. Had a little too much to drink last night but still got up early and had a struggled through a trail run. Feeling way better and ready to get into some damn beers!
Little backstory on this one. Been wanting to try it for awhile because it's obviously one of those beers that every beer enthusiast has to try at least once. I finally get my opportunity thanks to the generosity of @y2kawakami who looked through my wants and sent over a box of some stellar beers. Also thanks to @WesMantooth and @JBowenGeorgia who were secondarily involved. Onto the review!

12 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Didn't look for a bottle date.

Pours very dark with around a finger head that is a light tan color. Minimal lacing and the head lingers around the glass.

Smell is lovely. Roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, coffee bean, and a hint of cinnamon spice.

Taste is much of the same. The roastiness (is that a word?) of this beer is incredible. Chocolate malt, coffee bean, vanilla, lactose, bitter dark fruit.

The feel is pretty damn good for a low abv porter. It has a fairly full bodied mouthfeel although there is a slight watery feel to it.

Overall just a perfect example of a porter. I came in with high expectations and they were certainly met.
