Abnormal Brewing - Summer 2017

I didn't try this specific beer on tap. Some have said they thought it tasted about the same as it did on tap. Closest thing it reminds me of is that collaboration they did with Alpine a while ago that was overly malty and sweet but at least that tasted like an IPA.

 

Has anyone picked up their Makaveli bottles yet? Is it on tap along with anything else cool? Will be heading down there tomorrow at opening.

 

Picked up bottles, it was not on draft, cracked one last night after a friends' softball game. Damn....it tastes better from the bottle than it did on draft. Comparing to Big Poppa b2 (wish I still had a b1 bottle) will be fun...but I don't think the JWB version is even close. If it were still a b1 bottle then it might edge out makavelli but b2....highly unlikely.

 

This is good to hear! I can't wait to try it. Recently had b2 Big Poppa and it is a shell of b1although I still really enjoyed it. Thoroughly looking forward to this one!

 

Somewhat disappointed in not making this though I suppose maxing out on cafe dino, the recent mikkeller, bottle logic modern times & council releases will suffice

 

Would you recommend aging the bottle a few months?

 

I don't think it needs to be aged at all. Drank great now. Of course I say this and I am saving a bottle until November to crack during SDBW so...you know, there is that.

 

Anyone else think Koozy tasted weird/off? Just had at BC. Not good. At all.

Yes. But it's his business to release that info.

 

Well, I figure he's going to be the head brewer wherever he goes, so if no brewery is losing their head brewer he must be starting a new one, right? I guess he could be an assistant brewer, but given his resume and aspirations, I'd bet he wants to be in complete control of his product.

 

It will do a lot to raise the quality of beer up there that's for sure. I was not particularly impressed on my one visit.
