    @Sabtos

    1. It was a general comment not pointed at anyone (notice how I din't quote or reply).
    2. Clearly specified it was directed to people desperate for bottles.
    3. If you can't clear time to visit the source or chase the distribution of these bottles that's just unfortunate. Bad luck but the person is still not entitled just for being a fan of the brewery. Focus on stuff that you can easily get then. Plenty of good beer out there.

Personally, I don't live in Ohio. If I did I would live in a populous place, and likely be 2 hours or more 1 way from Athens. If JO just had a decreased price for in-house sales (like every other Brewery I have visited relative to distribution prices), I would for sure be more likely to visit. Saving $1 per bottle of $12 beers, when i want to buy quantity, makes the cost of driving be only a factor of time - rather than making already expensive beers more expensive.

I think that is a reasonable incentive to visit, rather than making Brewery only drops. Overall, I am concerned about money and time. Take away some of the concern for money, I'm more likely to visit at any point in time, regardless of whether there are more limited drops. Increasing the number of limited drops when I don't have the money for expensive beer to begin with doesn't help (me). Obviously it increases revenues overall, that much is clear.

I still reason that total profit would potentially increase if there is a $ discount per bottle at Brewery.

My only complaint about Jackie O's is that there do not exist 375's of Kentucky Monk on which to spend my money. That is all.

Does anyone know why the BB bottles are not in northern KY? I go to the Brewery at least a half dozen times/year and enjoy the ride. Also close enough to grab some bottles from Cincy

I was just talking to a buddy about braggots and we brought up this beer. May God rest its soul.

I love the drive down to Athens and the ability to get away from Columbus for a day. The more taproom releases, the better.

Columbus distro is great, btw. No complaints here.

We would do this if we were legally allowed to by the state. I reached out to our liquor law lawyer to double check here was his response:

"Regarding sale price, unfortunately you need to price it at the state minimum retail price. If Kroger’s is above minimum, then you could price less, but all retail sales, even if directly from the manufacturer, must be at retail minimum."

Thank you all for your enthusiasm, interest, and passion towards Jackie O's. Be it positive or negative, I have a better understanding of what the consumer experiences and desires via this thread. Always striving to better serve our markets and developed a personal connection to our retailers and consumers. Cheers!

Love Jackie O's stuff and the taproom especially...My question would be why is Barley Hopsters in Delaware allowed to sell BB stuff for $13 (used to be $15.75) and regular Oro for $10? Don't get me wrong I pay it if it's something I can't find elsewhere, as it usually sits because of the higher price...

We set the state minimum, not maximum.

This is Kevins fault for leaving our region as cav's rep. He'd tell them to knock that shit off. At least I get to bump into him at Jackie O's...

Having visited more than 200 taprooms, there's always a lot of excitement when you're going to a brewery's taproom and you know you're gonna get to try some things you can't try anywhere else. I went to Founders a couple of years ago, and all they had on tap was stuff you could get in Ohio. Disappointing it was. So if JO's is going to reserve some special brews for taproom only, that will increase the number of visits I make over to Athens. Especially for incredible treats like Coconut Champion Ground.

Also, I agree with @Sabtos. When the sought after BA bottles like Oro hit the Dayton area, you're limited to one bottle per. And they are gone that same day.

I dunno, I saw 2 cases of BA Oro on the floor at the Washington Square Dorothy Lane Market last week. In Dayton and I imagine some other areas of the state, the sought after BA stuff probably doesn't last long at the better stores like Belmont and Ollie's, but I'm not sure that means it's gone from the area altogether so quickly. And even for those stores I feel like the more in demand product has been lasting longer thanks to greater supply. It's not a BA example but I was stunned when I saw quite a few Razz Berliner just chilling on the shelf in Belmont a few weeks back.

Granted this could be a case of stores either reupping after selling through their initial stock or waiting to put stuff off, but around Dayton at least I feel like it's far easier to find even the most popular BA bottles than it was a few years ago.

Also, regarding the Dynamo Hum discussion on the last page, the label was posted a couple of days ago:

The taproom typically has a lot of the stuff you could get in bottles, but the brewpub/public house usually have a lot of stuff that is not bottled.

I'll be heading to Jackie O's for the first time with my wife tomorrow... Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like there are three different locations in Athens? Which one do I want to go to? We're looking to try as much as possible on tap and probably get dinner. And I'm going to want to bring some bottles home. Are the different locations within walking distance of one another?

The production brewery/taproom is your best bet for bottles and other merchandise (glassware, t-shirts, etc) to-go, but they don't serve food. There is a food truck, but it only has a handful of items. From here to the other two locations is a very short drive of less than 5 minutes. You could walk it, but you probably wouldn't want to, especially if you buy stuff to-go.

The public house is your best bet for food. It has a regular food menu and a sizable taplist, usually including several tap-only offerings. They do have bottles to go here, but I'm not sure if they have everything that's available at the taproom. The brewpub opens later in the day and has a smaller taplist but is worth a visit if you go to the public house as it's next door.

Taplists for all three can be found on the website.

I'm not suggesting anything. The beer game is illogical and I'm pointing that out. Clearly, my attempt at sarcasm here is lost on the interwebs as well.
