Wild Mind’s 2nd annual Festival Of Oak is October 14th.

    https://www.wildmindales.com/blog/second-annual-festival-of-oak

They will have 16 different barrel-aged beers on tap. They will also be releasing bottles of their first two coolship beers (besides the kriek they had at APN).

“Spontané is a year-old blend of spontaneously fermented wild ale that was inoculated overnight in our custom-made coolship.”

“Bramble Spontané, our second coolship bottle available at the event, was fermented on blackberries, cherries, and boysenberries and refermented in the bottle.”

6 hour tour sounds excellent, but does anyone know what blackbarrel gold is?

I called Town Hall, and was told 'Blackbarrel Gold' is a beer brewed for the first time, starting with 'Blond Crush' (classified as a Belgian Strong Pale Ale), barrel aged, and then infused with blackberries.

It’s always hard picking between this event and getting to Surly early.

I've always wanted to check this out, but am usually at DD Eve instead. Probably flipping that around this year....How are the crowds usually? Do you need to get there super early to get a spot to hang out or sit? I'm not as concerned about missing a BCBS pour or two.

My experience is the basement is usually the place to be if you don't get a bar spot. It's a little less crowded and a better chance of getting a seat.

Last year it was quiet from noon-4. They certainly didn't have all the heavy hitters tapped, but were putting some on through the day.

For 'Blackbarrel Gold' it looks like one will have to wait until October 16th for its release.

What? You mean this place on campus I've never head of until now? Good god, that's a crazy lineup. That seems legit dangerous.

I've never had any of the Bourbon County variants. Now I really want to get to this place. Is there any sort of ticketing system, or is it just show up and get your beer?

Stub and Herbs has gems pretty often. It was my go-to bar in college. There are some staggered releases (mainly Darkness), but most gets tapped immediately. There are no tickets. Get there pretty early if you want the BCBS variants. They will announce beforehand when stuff goes on tap. They have also added DSDB to the taplist.

Stub & Herb's has been one of the best craft beer bars in the Twin Cities since at least 2006, when its competition was limited to the likes of Blue Nile, MacKenzie, a brand new Happy Gnome, and maybe some Old Chicago outposts.

Does the stubs and herbs even start at 5? or do they tap things earlier? Coming up for Darkness again, and if they tap some stuff before 5 I may leave an hour or 2 earlier to get a couple pours.
