    The referenced post is on page 11 of this thread, but I swear "Grape Lotion" had already dropped in that visiting Tillamook thread back when it was still a silly thread and clamguns were all the rage. But maybe my memory is feeble.

    Either way we're deep in hyperbole territory. That post on p. 11 doesn't sound very angry.

    By the way, was at GN this past weekend and had a great time, as always. Great food (with the exception of the change up in fries), amazing beers, awesome service, and even a surprise crowler to go. Standouts were the Guava Space Invaders (I fucking love anything with Guava) and the fresh hop Ripe.

    After reading all of this, I really hope that Great Notion is working on a Grape Lotion Ipa. Mostly grape smell, light on grape flavor that will be mixed with some coconut and some sea salt perhaps? I can't be the only one to accidentally taste lotion before?

    At least from my Japanese Kit Kat eating, I would suggest purple potatoes :slight_smile:

    I was there a couple of weeks ago to try the FH Ripe as well, and couldn't agree more. While I don't personally think GN is making the best hazy IPA's (or anything else for that matter) on the planet, I always have a good time there, with the beers ranging from very good to outstanding. In fact, the current batch of double stack is the best version I've ever had from them (a bit less sweetness, but with outstanding coffee, maple syrup and chocolate flavor). Customer service is always excellent (friendly and quick), and food above average.

    It's really a shame that there continues to exist the perception that you must be a "hater" if you don't think GN and their beers are the greatest thing since sliced bread. They're absolutely an excellent local brewery, making a range of solid, easy to appreciate beer (albeit at a somewhat inflated price).

    I always have a good time whenever I go over there (but apparently, that's just damning them with faint praise).

    Yeah well if you consider the author of the article you'll know he's prone to writing things that'll either piss people off or get people arguing in the comments section. Like the Howard Stern of craft beer geeks.

    Great Notion does some good Hazy beers and I think their hype is well deserved, but if I were to pick my favorite brewery for the style I'd say Ruebens (as an outsider that only goes to Portland and Seattle about 7-8 times each a year - but focuses on Hazy stuff while there). Their collab with Alvarado Street, and their Crush series are on par with any IPAs I've ever had (especially Latona, like please, send me more of that).

    I'm so disappointed that I was up North in August and won't be back for two weeks so I somehow will miss all the Fresh Hop stuff!!!
