    The new brewery is coming...

The Double Can + Glassware release at Barrier Brewing was a success.

Funds from this release help to fund completion of Grimm's and Barrier's new brewing equipment, which was endangered when our manufacturer went out of business.

Joe and Lauren thank you for your support and were glad to meet many of you at Barrier.

Their new online shop is open. Check out their gorgeous glassware and shirts.

Nice pics on their instagram feed: https://www.instagram.com/grimmales/

Grimm beers are usually in high demand (especially the cans). Cans have been limited to low counts per person. Grimm Artisanal Ales supply their beers at low prices (and have NOT raised their prices recently) to the distributor, who supply the retail shops, and therefore are not responsible for the final price you may encounter. They try to support the "Mom and Pop" shops that sell their beer. Hopefully, we should all support these small shops. Also available at select Whole Foods beer departments with limits to spread the wealth among your fellow BA brethren. :sunglasses:

The latest fitness craze has been the checking of this thread and Beermenus for their cans/bottles and running around town trying to get them before inventory is sold out. Needed exercise for some of our fellow beer enthusiasts. :grinning: If you miss out, you can usually find their beer on tap.

Post away and yes, Joe and Lauren (the Grimm's) monitor this thread and are great about responding to your questions and comments. Especially, if you tag them @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales. Great people, great couple, great brewers.

    Artwork

The beautiful Grimm artwork on their labels is designed by Lauren, about 50% from scratch and the rest using Gretta Johnson's (their longtime friend) artwork. Gretta did the artwork for Sugarmaker, In Mid-Air, and Candlepower.

Check out http://grettajohnson.com/ for more about this talented artist.

The artwork on the Splish can is by Joe's old band mate, and incredible artist, Brian Alfred.

The artwork on Lambo Door, Awoogah, Light Year, Skyspace, Lumen, and Blackberry Orange Pop! is by the amazing Lauren Grimm. She can do it all!

The artwork for Sumi Ink label is by Sumi Ink Club (http://sumiinkclub.com/)

Their friend Maggie (Margaux Ogden) did the Zap design (http://www.margauxogden.com/paintings)

    How is it already October?

Anyway, I would say that DDH Afterimage on draft was the best Grimm beer I've had yet. Absolutely insane stuff.

Wore my Grimm shirt to Jester King yesterday and every staff member asked me if the new spot is open. All were big fans. Pretty cool the hype made it down to Texas beer people.

i have a feeling the brewery is coming and the hype is dying down at just the right time. going to be so great to sit in the tap room on a weeknight and have a few grimms on tap.

Maybe this has been answered before, but what sort of capacity (roughly) will the new place have? Will you guys be making a lot of beer there? Or will this be more of a taproom with the bulk of production still being contracted out?

Here's what we have coming up:
Kinetic Cloud and Double Negative (deliveries are partially out there already)
Super Shine (gose with mosaic and azacca)
Foo Foo (El Dorado single hop APA, draft only)
Striking (new DIPA with Motueka, Azacca, and Ekuanot cryo -- cans/draft)
Kites Are Fun (another new DIPA with Hallertau Blanc, Mandarina Bavaria, and Simcoe Cryo, cans/draft)
Sunshine Pop! (dessert berliner with lemongrass, mosaic, vanilla, and milk sugar)
Super Spruce will land somewhere on the November border...

We have created three new blends from the barrel library that we are bottle conditioning in 750ml champagne bottles. We hope to have them at the opening of the 990 metro brewery, whenever that ends up being.

    thank you!

They really are great folks at jester king.

I think that's a great idea and I will run it up the chain to Lauren and Gretta and Chris, who are on merch duty.

It's (for us) a lot of capacity. We have four 60bbl and two 90bbl tanks, all extra-wide geometry unitanks. That should allow us to make roughly 1.5x the volume that we've been doing, all in house. In addition to that we're bringing in a lot of oak for wild fermentation. The actual amount we produce may depend a lot on how much we are focusing on extended timeline sour beer, which has always been our passion and has been a driving reason for why we needed a space of our own. We want to make as much of that kind of beer as new york wants to drink, so we'll see how much of the brewery ends up given over to that.

Our focus areas will be IPA, sour beer, and some crushable saison and pils type things.

Timeline: we're at this point waiting on inspections and red tape to be cleared. Equipment is 90% installed. If all goes well we could begin brewing early november and should be able to open to the public before the new year. Everything depends on the various agencies giving us the green light to begin operating.

Can't confirm this, but I was told by a man who owns a beer shop that's in a Facebook Beer Enthusiast group I'm in that Grimm has rereleased Skyspace this October. @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales is this true?

Yes, it is out and tasting pretty f'n good -- more raspberry *and* hop character than batch 1. We haven't announced it on instagram or anything yet because it probably won't be on shelves until, say, tomorrow or friday.

Surprised there hasn't been more chatter here this month. Had a couple glasses of Double Negative at Glorietta Baldy on Tuesday and, as usual, it was absolutely fantastic. A nice layered flavor profile, hitting all the right notes for a "regular" imperial stout, IMO. Not in the least bit boozy, either, which was very nice. Had Afterimage on Sunday which was also wonderful, and a great example of how to have a soft mouthfeel with a variety of softer/smoother, yet still prominent, hop flavors without falling head-first into the "joose" model.

Going to be searching out a few bottles of DN after work. Anyone know what their status is at WF Gowanus or Williamsburg? The latter says it's available as of Tuesday, but thought I'd ask anyway.

WFCC had quite a few bottles as well as the various Pops and I think Passion Dome. Pineapple Pop on tap too (very tasty).

I know you didn't ask about it, but just in case you're in the area, WF BP had bottles of Double Negative and Kinetic Cloud when I stopped by this morning.

Hey @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales, I'm sure this has been asked by others in previous threads, but any idea how can releases will go at the brewery? How often do you expect, or will try to have can releases per month?
