Pulled in to a cold wet Estes Park Colorado and I was in need of a beer to unwind with. I decided it was time for this crowler of Cannonball Creek Techno Viking DIPA I had filled a few days ago.

A dank weedy/floral west coaster with some citrus undertones. The 8.6% abv. hides pretty well. This is some seriously good hop resin! That spot to the right of the glass is one of the few wild turkeys walking around the Fall River.

I'm tired, hungry and short on words so I'll leave you with a screen shot of my review. Have a great finish with your new beer adventures.

I sympathize with you! I'm rather 'old' and pretty beat up from a lifetime of sports, but I still have some speed left. I limit myself to 5k's these days as well and just run hard. Have a good race and fun time at what sounds like a great event!

Got this as part of my 'Sorry-I-won't-be-home-for-your-birthday-but-I-will-bring-you-beer-from-Denver' present a few months back and put a lot of stock in the "barrel aged" portion of the self-proclaimed style and decided to hold off for a bit. After an unpleasant run-in with a different hybrid (red IPA - different brewer) my reluctance increased some and it sat a bit longer as I wonder if anything but "imperial" or "double " really belonged in front of IPA.

Its number was called as the circuit of three stores this afternoon yielded nothing that struck a chord. Not earth-shattering but good.

L - Slightly cloudy, amber hued with a decent head the color of dried grass. Head retreated quickly to a thin layer of foam that the scant carbonation had a little trouble keeping up with. 3.5
    S - muted hops and licorice 3.75
T - Balanced and unassuming maltiness with licorice and possibly wine like finish until a big bitter takes up residence.4
F - Medium bodied, enough carbonation bring out tannins and keep a sustained bitterness 3.75
O - Good things going on, keeps your interest. 3.84

Moderate pour yields a 3/4 inch creamy white head over a hazy light golden body with nice sticky lacing. Nose of, you guessed it, oranges! Also, tropical fruit aromas are present, as well. Taste of citrus with oranges at the forefront with a nice dry finish. Soft feel being a tad thin. Overall, this is one tasty beverage.

[IMG] Good afternoon BAs! Cracked this Sprit Foul hazy IPA collab between Modern Times and Fair State Brewing.

Shout out to @aoampm for sending me this awesome beer all the way from Hawaii for our new beer Sunday BIF! Perfect complement to a lazy Sunday after coming home from a weekend trip to the future inlaws' place (I lucked out, they're awesome Louisianans who love to party).

Tons of sweet orange/tangerine with a big burst of melon in this bad boy. Nice light body, stays away from being too pulpy like this style can border on sometimes. I am loving it for sure. Cheers!

After dinner and back with another new one.

This is Skyophontes from Orpheus - a sour with figs.

Notes below. Nice blend of tart and sweet. Easy drinking for 7.5%. Looks like no one has added a picture to the BA database, so I need to do that next.

Poured from 12 oz can dated 8/28/2017

A: Murky brown with grape tones. One to two finger head that settles to a thin ring. Light lacing.

S: Figs, sour cherries, and dates.

T: Tart cherries and figs with sweetness that reads dates and honey.

M: Medium body with fairly light carbonation. Finish is a little tart and fairly dry.

O: Another tasty beer from Orpheus.

    Hill Farmstead Brewery
    American IPA / 6.00% ABV

    4.09/5 rDev -3.5% | Score: 4.24
    look: 4.25 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

L-The beer pours the color of orange juice with a 2 finger off white head. The head recedes to a thin film leaving excellent curtains of lace.
S-The nose is citrus fruit and grapefruit pith. Some spiciness at the back end which may be the Nelson. (Full disclosure: I'm not a wine drinker).
T- Sweet citrus up front which transitions to a moderate pithy bitterness. Nelson character if its there is melding with the pith.
F-Mouthfeel is soft and creamy. Carbonation is prickly, but light. Overall mouthfeel is medium.
O- Excellent as always with Hill Farmstead. Not necessarily my favorite hop combo, but well executed and well worth a purchase.

    Melvin IPA

Here's Melvin #2. It's a lot like the Hubert above except that it's more syrupy, the alcohol is more present, and there's a bit more malt and body.

The ABV is 1.5% more, and the drinkability has gone down a notch. I prefer Hubert as a result (because I put so much importance on drinkability).

    Cheers.

Bells - Bourbon Barrel Aged Expedition Stout

Huge thanks to @Blackop555 for fulfilling another long time want in the NBS BIF #6.

Bottled 6/2/17, poured I'm to snifter.
Pours motor oil black, with a thin layer dark orange foam.
    Nose is figs, caramel, bourbon
Taste is bakers cocoa, heavy caramel, bourbon, and oak.
Feel is thick and full as expected.
Overall a long time want that lives up to my expectation. No harsh booziness, and the bourbon is very tame and balanced by the heavy oak character.

Rupture Fresh Grind Ale from Odell. this is one of the better beers I've had in a while.
Fresh, clean, amazing aroma, delicious, highly drinkable.
I'm stepping out there and recommending it to you all, I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

    Howdy everybody!
Well it went from late July weather to mid-October weather in a day this past week, so I am feeling like fall is finally here, which is nice. I went on a quick trip to Ontario this last week and got to pick up this can of Ransack the Universe from Collective Arts. I have only had one other beer (as far as I know) but it was pretty damn tasty and I have consistently heard this one mentioned so I'm looking forward to seeing how it is.

One thing that I noticed right off the bat was that there looked to be three or four different beers from them in the cooler. Nope. Just different labels on the same beer. The label art is pretty cool, but it struck me as strange. Then this week I saw a couple people talking about how weird it is from a marketing standpoint on the Canada forum and I definitely agree. On the other hand, the labels do draw attention, my wife (after also assuming they were multiple beers from the same brewery) looked them over and made sure I wasn't buying an ugly one. :sunglasses:

I call this one "Droves of Drooling Drunken Dogs".
Anyway, on to the beer itself.
It pours pretty clear with a brass sort of color and nice, whipped cream head. The aroma is fruity and the flavor is dry and fairly bitter (though still a little fruity).
Lots of melon in the aroma with a flavor that's malt supporting green hop bitterness with a little citrus aromatics. It is drinkable and well-balanced.
I'm glad I got to try this one and hope to get a hold of some more of their stuff in the future. In the meantime, here is my "real" review and I wish you all an excellent first week of October.

    Cheers!:beers:

Thanks to @lordofthewiens for getting us started, I wish you well in retirement and whatever you choose to challenge yourself with next!

Had planned to be in the mountains today, but some changing weather made it a little easier to stay home. Plus as is often the case life is definitely getting in the way of fun. So hopefully, I'll be able to get a couple contributions in to this thread as a consolation prize.

First beer is from Brouwerij West. Falling Water has the most unique label that I've seen to date. Both non-connected and overlapping circles, I have no idea how they get this done (or how much of a PITA it may be to execute).

It's an experimental IPA that includes both buckwheat and spelt in the grain bill. Plenty of apricots on both the nose and taste. Mouthfeel is both slick and creamy, pillowy on the tongue. Complete rating link, with BA rating of 4.11, rdev +0.2%

I haven't seen or heard one yet. Elk Fest was this weekend which means 50k plus added to the town's population. The elk usually run for cover and take a couple of days to reappear. There's 3-5 inches of snow coming which could make for some interesting photography.

Stone Arch Vanilla Stout, 5% ABV, 42 IBU. Pours black and thin with a slight tan head. Nose is vanilla, but not picking up much on the taste other than a slight bitterness. OK mouthfeel due to a bit of carbonation burn, watery and not very smooth for an oatmeal stout. Overall very good.
