I as I clock in beer #200, I look back at the Beer Journey I have been on since I joined BA 2 years ago. It has been one heck of a ride, and taken me to places I would have never dreamed of a mere two years ago. I would like to thank @monkeybeerbelly (who only makes cameo appearances these days) for helping me along the way.
Today's beer is a German Pils, had at the source, as I was at Industrial Arts Brewing today which is just a 5-minute drive away.
    Industrial Arts Metric

    10oz pour at the brewery
L- bright gold, clear as day, with a nice fluffy white head
S- sweet and doughy, typical pils
T- sweet crystal malt along with some breadiness, and a floral finish with a hint of spice
    F- crisp, medium-bodied, average carbonation
Overall this a very solid Pils, clean crisp and very drinkable

    Cheers!

Greetings and salutations, NBSers, and congrats to @lordofthewiens for both his magnificent introductory post and his impending retirement. I can remember a time not long ago that retirement seemed WAAAAAAAY far away.

At nearly 55, that's not the case any longer - and it's a sobering thought (pun intended), if you work for a large company, that you're entering the "I'm going from the asset side to the liability side of the ledger" phase of your career.

I'll celebrate that transition with a couple of beers, first this radical, magnificent Berliner Weisse from one of my favorite breweries in the world, and a brewery I miss dearly since we left Minnesota.

BTW, I sat on this for 2-1/2 years - and Mrs O (she of "I'd like a Miller Lite in a bottle - no glass, please" fame) LOVES this.

The pour is gorgeous, murky golden peach color - shocking (not) since this beer has 5,500 lbs of peaches added to the base Berliner Weisse beer. The rapidly dissipating head was a light tan color.

Aromas are of course peaches, but there's also some citrus, like tangerines. The taste is very tart and dry, but the peaches lend a bit of sweetness so you don't think you're drinking champagne.

The feel is sprightly and bubbly, but there's more than a little depth to this. Simply a phenomenal "sour," IMHO.

Back with a second beer for today.

This one showed up in a crazy box sent by a very generous BA @azuelke.

Look: Dark amber color with a frothy white head about 1/2 inch tall. Some lacing.
Smell: Lots of tropical fruit smells, hint of hops on the back end. Definitely mango's, grapefruit and maybe some guava in there, smells great.
Taste: Tropical fruit IPA with mango, pineapple, and general citrus/floral flavors. Hops are subdued by still present, and the finish has some earthiness to it.
Feel: Little lighter feel than expected and the finish is not as dry as I personally like.
Overall: This is right up my alley for an IPA and besides the feel being a little sub-par, I really enjoyed this.

A not-very-careful pour yields pure gold in my glass with four fingers of thick fluff foam which takes a frustratingly long time to die down, leaving chunks of lacing on the way. Tiny bubbles stream up, keeping that fluff stubbornly in place.

Smell is wheat, banana, some clove, some alcohol. Fruity and inviting.

Creamy, creamy mouthfeel. Coats the mouth with banana bread and spice, wheat tang, lingering bitterness on the finish. Some alcohol, but that creaminess makes it oh so easy to drink.

This beer is beautiful in the glass and typically delicious for Weihenstephaner. I gotta go get some more.

Bottle has 8067 stamped on. June 8th?

Slightly hazy purplish-red, with quickly-dissipating light pink head.

Aroma is light yeast, cracker, and fruitiness. "Fresh" comes to mind. Essentially like homemade grape soda.

Flavor is jammy tartness, lemon,cranberry/pomegranate, and something else, that leans more "grape" than "blueberry".

Lightly oily feel, with very, very fine carbonation prickle on the finish.

Overall : nice, light, and refreshing! I wish I had gotten this a week ago, for the 90F(& -ish) days last week. I'll be looking for this , & the other iterations of it, next summer. : )

Got this in the NBS BIF from @Buck89. Its the perfect combo of hops to me. Citra and Mosaic. Centennial too, although it really isnt my favorite it does add some bitterness finish to an otherwise juicey beer. Big citrus and nice blueberry with the centennial hops really pushing the bitterness on the finish. Everything I always wanted in a NE IPA!

Cheers go to @smanson56 who provided this new beer for me. Can’t thank him enough for al the new beers he sent.

Canned sometime 7/17, can’t read the date, went into a tulip glass. Poured muddled peach nectar, orange and ruby highlights. White head. Recedes quickly.
Nose is grapefruit peel, floral, peach notes.
Taste is citrus, white grapefruit, some tropical fruit notes. Dry, abrasive and bitter finish.
4.34. Another solid Trillium beer I could

    Greetings NBS BAs!
I haven't had Plasma in over a year and certainly not as fresh as this, so I will give you a current photo and a current review while following them both with a link to my current review on BA:
Poured from a 16oz can (canned from the tap at the brewery) into a Spiegelau 19oz IPA glass

A - Pours a slightly hazy, Medium Amber color with nothing more than a wisp of an off-white head. Being canned from the tap (and the beertender taking their time with sealing the multiple cans I ordered), I anticipated an issue with lack-of-carbonation...I was correct. (4.25)

S - If a 9.3% ABV, Gluten Free beer is not enought, the nose is equally unique sporting strong Spicy, Herbal, Citrus and Vinous (Red Grape) aromas. The nose ellicits absolutely none of the 9.3% ABV. (4.75)
T - Carmel, Red Grape, Citrus all greet the palate with ease and are followed with a piney finish (courtesy of the Summit hops used for bittering). The bitterness is medium and keeps the malt sweetness in check, yet allows enough sweetness to pass to afford a nice balance. (4.75)

M - Medium-Plus mouthfeel with (as mentioned before) conservative carbonation. More carbonation would be welcome but it is certainly far from a show stopper. (4.25)

O - I am still astounded that this is Gluten Free. I have had this beer twice before...first on tap and then again from a bottle-conditioned 75cl bottle. However, this batch is the most pungent (aroma and flavor) I have had and glad I purchased a few. Despite the lack of carbonation, this is absolutely the most fresh I can get without consuming at the brewery (1.5hr drive). At $4 a 16oz (can filled to the brim!), I will look beyond the carbonation and maintain that this is my favorite off-the-wall IPA (hops, malt and yeast very unique amonng other craft brewers). (4.75)

My original review (when it was only available in 750cl bottles):
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22202/92872/?ba=threeviews#review

Not a true NBS selection, but based on freshness and package format, I figured it would qualify...please LMK if my contribution is not appropriate.

    Cheers everyone!

I was hoping @Victory_Sabre1973 was going to post some pix of his catch, but that's okay, maybe in weeks to come or perhaps we can get a fishing and beer thread going eventually, I'm sure there's other BA's that fish. I'll be happy to post some pix of what I caught next to some beers.

    Alright, time for the beer:

The aroma captures a nice smooth settling sort of sweet and roasty coffee bean essence flowing over some milk chocolate, slight dark chocolate, sweet nuts, light toffee-ish sort of character (to me) as I'm not exactly sure if that was intended. Ended with a little bit of earthiness ever so slight.
The flavor leaned sweet at first and ended up flowing evenly into a fine blend of sweet and roasty. Light tickle of the coffee roast and sweet milk chocolate in the aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a smooth transient rich yet sessionable quality rolling over my tongue. Carbonation felt on par to me. I even think Sean Lawson may have pulled the carbonation down intentionally just to try and re-create an English Dark Mild ale. Given that this was bottled last week and the smoothness rolling over my tongue really makes me think that.
Overall, to style? Perhaps, but I have to admit, I really like this one for me. I have to admit fans of coffee porters might find this one intriguing.

#2, this outstanding BA imperial stout with honey added is brewed in Truckee, CA. Back when I was a kid in Northern Indiana (otherwise known as "the olden days), we got 4 TV stations: ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS.

If you were lucky, and had a great antenna (that's an aluminum apparatus that looked like an eclectic pitchfork and sat on top of your house), you might pick up WGN. That's it. So you watched the local news (because there was no ESPN) to get the sports scores, fed to you by a guy in a REALLY ugly plaid jacket and a tie that would go up in flames if a match was lit within 50 feet of him.

But before ugly plaid, you got the local and - here's the important part - national weather. The local weather was ifnit was gonna rain, snow, or allow you outta the house, and the national weather was a pictorial map of the continental US, with various high-pressure and low-pressure markers, and (this was the big part) the national high and low temperatures.

The high temp was usually something close to the California desert, or maybe South Florida, but many times - MANY TIMES - the low temperature was from Truckee, CA.

As a youngster, I used to dream about Truckee and its frigid temperatures - and now I'm drinking a beer from this mythical place. My life is complete (and the beer is spectabulous).

Pour is jet black, thick tan head. Aromas are led by the barrel, but the dark chocolate aromas are present, as is the honey.

The taste has the dark chocolate evolving to a rich cocoa flavor, which may be the combination of the dark chocolate flavors and the honey. Whatever it is, I absolutely LOVE it. There's also a boozy burn present, but it's well onto the back of the palate, and isn't overwhelming in any way.

I wish I'd purchased three bombers of this, because it is exceptionally well executed.

A good fall brew, maybe a little light in color and watery on the tongue, but a nice seasonal.

Beer Geek Breakfast, 7.5% ABV. Pours black with a slight tan head. Nose is coffee, citrus, and chocolate. Taste is mostly strong coffee, with a slight bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. I like this better than FBS since the bitterness doesn't overpower the coffee taste.
