HAHA! Too funny, had no idea that was the same guy. Figured it was most likely possible that there more than one moron getting out of hand.

I hear you and agree. I do think that a fair amount of beer was being distributed on e-bay. No idea on numbers but i do think that will help reduce a few people looking for a quick buck from showing up.

Craft brew scene is great to be involved with whether you like collecting, consuming, reviewing, home brewing, whatever. For the die-hards, there are obvious drawbacks with more people (noobs) becoming involved but i would think that time will weed out people who aren't all that passionate about it. At least i hope.

Thanks! Bottles depend on when our filler arrives. Early next year, or maybe sooner if we're lucky.

I believe the Ebay Market had a large impact in some areas - limited releases would be one of them. Here in Madison, WI there are a limited number of places to purchase limited releases and it used to be a nightmare finding one or two packs/bombers of anything. Since the Ebay Market was shutdown, stuff actually sits on the shelves long enough for people to get an acceptable amount. BCBS is a perfect example - Woodman's still has over a case sitting behind the counter that no one has asked about. You can actually see it when you walk in the department and if Ebay was still active there is no way that beer would still be sitting there.

I'm interested to see how DD compares to the KBS release this year and should provide a good idea as to how much was actually being sold on Ebay. If you don't believe the seconday market was responsible for a lot of sales, I guess you didn't talk to anyone in the KBS line. If you are at Founders waiting for KBS and don't know what CBS is but know what they sell for on Ebay, you are not planning to drink your beer.

I am hoping for a plinythefarter sighting. Y'all remember him, right? (The Anne Hathaway boobs parting gift). Anyone know what he looks like?

I think the Bourbon County Availability was more due to the unexpectedly large quantity that came in. Most major shops got 5 cases and were only planning on getting one or two.

I'm wondering if the guy that fell asleep in his chair in line last year is still there. He didn't seem like he was going anywhere anytime soon. We saw him, all by himself, still there when we left at 3:00.

Was he a little white guy, kind of skinny? That was Crass3000's sidekick! Too funny. He kept saying something to the fact how he ate 25 oxi's(sp?) prior to his arrival. The guy was sleeping while standing next to us in the am. Darwin Award winner there.

I think that may have been him. I kinda remember security coming by, trying to get him to move, then just saying screw it and leaving him there since he was out of the way.

This is anecdotal evidence at best, just as I haven’t seen any demand let down since the “shutdown”. As a person who spent/spends lots of time searching Ebay in the sub category of breweriana, the evidence doesn’t support your claims. You would have found lots of listings coming from the same person after each release, or a repeated history of selling limited releases. While there were (and still are) a good number of those people out there, the majority were single bottle sales; someone selling part of their allotment, not the entire amount. These people more than likely are/were offsetting their beer purchases, by selling some in the secondary market. This type seller made up the vast majority of Ebay sales, and these people will still continue to be at these events.

I bet we could correlate the increased demand directly with the increased demand for craft beer in general. There will always be someone there to make a buck, if a buck can be made. Just as there will always be the person convinced, that it is that one person who screwed their chances of getting what they want.
My Stone Cold Lead Pipe Lock/Take it to the bank and cash it/can’t miss pick of the week, says barring adverse weather conditions, Darkness will sell out faster this year than it did last year. Just as it has done every year prior!

We got married in October a couple years ago, and I told my wife exactly this. She hates cold weather and she still doesn't believe me...

today said 50's with 10% rain. Still a week and a half out so likely to change. Snow would be kinda cool. Nothing like cracking open a bottle of Cantillon at 1am with a little snow fall.

Bonus points to you for this reference.

I agree that the ebayers will be replaced with newbies, and that's fine. I'd rather have more people there that are in it for the experience than the profit. Besides, everyone knows if you want to get rich at DD, supply good coffee and donuts around 8am.
